Im with hammyman on this one. A lot of people are making a living on benefits and its got to stop. As he said you were happy when labour said they would clamp down on scroungers but as soon as the tory party want to do it you're up in arms.
Did anyone here actually read what the plan was, it mentioned people who have been on the dole for 9/10 years not the ones who have just come out of work. In my book if they cant/wont find a job in that time tough i wouldnt give them anything at all.
The benefit system is there for the genuine needy.Be Alert..........Britain needs lerts.0 -

Ok...
If all the manual labour is done by [STRIKE]slaves[/STRIKE] people 'making a living' on benefits, then doesn't that mean less manual labour jobs paying a real wage?
If there are less manual labour jobs more labourers will go onto benefits and then eventually be forced to do the same jobs they used to for free?
I wondered where all the 'volunteers' were going to appear from to run the 'big society', its all becoming clear now.0 -
Its also got nothing to do with private companies using cheap labour, it is suggested to be community work, brushing up, painting fences etc, stuff the local councils cant afford to pay for because their government subsidies have been cut due to years of miss-management and waste by the labour party who encouraged people to claim in the first place rant overBe Alert..........Britain needs lerts.0

I would rather 1000 people cheat the system than one person who genuinely needs help be denied it, I say that as a current taxpayer who has previously needed to claim benefits.0 -
The idea in theory is good, however you can't tar everyone with the same " layabout " brush, Some folk on the dole are bone idol and have never done a days graft, Some folk get out there and apply for lots of jobs but just don't seem to get lucky with reply's,, If they are going to aim this at the real long term unemployed then fair enough, But don't make people who have worked hard in the past do the same stuff,0

I dont mind working for benefits in the sort of jobs i could do, as long as my medical & childcare needs could be accommodated in amongst it. Sometimes it is seriously boring being unemployable and can be a very lonely existance. I would worry that some employers would rely on temporary 'benefit' workers only and abuse the system, leaving the claimant with no rights etc.Grocery Challenge - Jan £4.42/£200.00

It annoys me that because I am unemployed that I am tarred with the same kind of people who have never worked a day in their life, Get those people who can't be bothered to work and let me keep looking for work, Making me work for a month at 30 hours a week is only going to hinder my job search. I can't do that and get out and look for work, Wonder how much money we could save if we returned all immigrants who are claiming dole ? Oh wait were not allowed to do that, I forgot about human rights lol0
