Gutted - miserable staff in Milton Keynes said no - code at foot of voucher was different catalogue number to the 'free' ones.

    Thanks to Helen Jelly anyway!!

I had this too - I was even told it was probably a different game and when I pointed to the catalogue was told it was probably in a promotional leaflet!

Not happy, as I'd made a special trip, so flounced out muttering I'd never shop in Argos again:D

Glad others managed to get it though

It is a bit depressing reading that some people managed to pick up one near store closing time, when some of us couldn't get one within an hour of opening. My local branch wasn't exactly heaving either so I do wonder how many they had in the first place.
A waist is a terrible thing to mind.

Hence the problem. Your local(ish) stores had 12, 15 and 12 games respectively. No wonder none were left at 11.30 at mine.

To make available such ridiculous amounts of 'freebies' is taking the proverbial really. I thought there would be limited numbers of games available but on these quantities they may as well not have bothered.

Well done to those who received one and to the posters who helped. I only wanted one as a family game for us, not requested by one of the children so was not too gutted that they were all gone. Just really cross that the Express made such a big fuss of such a small number of games.

But it's quite possible (most likely on my evidence) your store actually had "plenty" left at 11:30 but they were reserved and most of these stayed reserved when the shop closed.

Yes my 3 stores only had 39 between them but they only gave out 23 because of this "bulk reserving" routine.

I'm not sure that they "may as well not have bothered" ..... they have attempted to give away over 20,000 units altogether ...

there are over 750 Argos stores :)

Thanks Op I manged to get one this morning, after seeing on here that the code was different and i couldnt order online, I rang my local and asked if there was any available stock and very polite young lady told me yes there was 10 left in stock, so she kindly reserved me one over the phone so i could pop down and get it without being dissapointed when i got there.

I'm one happy Mam with one more present sorted. Thanks

Just really cross that the Express made such a big fuss of such a small number of games.

To be fair the take up rate on these offers is usually very low. Most people see it, think it's a good idea then forget so either don't go at all or go at such a late time that they are 1/2 expecting it to be sold. They then see it as their own fault rather than the paper's. I don't think Mr Desmond knows about MSE & the newspaper thread ;)
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

I reserved 2 (one for me, one for friend) and bought 2 papers. Drove to the local store and was told it was a different code. So out of pocket on papers and petrol. Never mind, you win some you lose some.
