I have emailed Argos - not to complain as such but to highlight to them the inconsistency of their stores. I reserved one of the games last night, i do not have an iphone so was unable to reserve using the new code today so i bought two papers and went into town - the first store had sold out, i explained i had reserved last night using the other code and they refused to sell me that game, they then checked and advised that the other store in town had stock of the free game but "were not allowed to reserve one for me" so i gave them the reservation number that i had and asked them to release the stock to allow it to be sold. I then went to the other store and hey ho by the time i got there they'd also sold all the free games - they too would not allow me to use the reservation i'd made last night - so i told them to release it - I wanted to make Argos aware that some stores were allowing reservation codes from yesterday to be used whereas some weren't and the same for the reservation of the free game at the other store - it should be the same across the board.
Well done to all those that managed to get one - i got a free Thorntons chocolate reindeer with a code from the Sunday Mirror instead :-)

I understand what you mean quoia and I tried very hard to get rid of the excess codes I had due to accidently reserving for someone who had got a code elsewhere although I feel more people benefitted from the system we had going of helping other by reserving than people who missed out. Without knowing about the glitch of being able to reserve a promotional item for people unable to get there first thing this morning a lot of genuine bargain hunters and people seeking this game would have missed out.

Some people over on hukd got 7 so feel these people probably caused more harm than us by reserving for people.

On the whole I wish I could have cancelled some of the unused codes but Argos don't offer than facility

I imagine the staff will probably get the left overs if they nip out for a paper

Oh blinking heck, just logged on after not being well for a couple of days and can't believe Ive missed this :(
If this has helped you please don't forget to click Thanks, thankyou.
  • I got to my local Argos by 12pm and they had sold out :(
:j Currently doing the Swagbucks challenge :j
  • Also I had two codes for my local store by accident and when I went to collect mine I had to use my code but cos I felt bad about the other I waited around to see if anyone was turning up with a voucher and being turned away so I could give them my spare code so they didn't have a wasted journey.

How dodgy must I have looked heavily pregnant hanging around Argos handing codes out to people secretly lol

[QUOTE=quoia;38251366The store in question only had 12 of the correct FREE Pictureka games to give away today.

had only given away 9 of their initial stock of 15 games

sadly HALF of the stock of 12 they opened with :(

    [/QUOTE]

Hence the problem. Your local(ish) stores had 12, 15 and 12 games respectively. No wonder none were left at 11.30 at mine.

To make available such ridiculous amounts of 'freebies' is taking the proverbial really. I thought there would be limited numbers of games available but on these quantities they may as well not have bothered.

Well done to those who received one and to the posters who helped. I only wanted one as a family game for us, not requested by one of the children so was not too gutted that they were all gone. Just really cross that the Express made such a big fuss of such a small number of games.
