Free pictureka board game @ Argos with Sunday Express(£1.35)

Well I went to Argos earlier and there was a woman in the queue in front of me with a voucher, she was told they had sold out. I was praying the reservation that "lynakers" MSEer made for me earlier today was ok and it was. Brilliant, and another huge thanks to thatguy and lynakers! Another freebie Christmas present and a great one at that! :beer:

I didn't really need it anyway, you giving it as a present to someone is better than it probably sitting in the cupboard at my place doing nothing & gathering dust

Gutted - miserable staff in Milton Keynes said no - code at foot of voucher was different catalogue number to the 'free' ones.

If only i had come on last night I would of seen this offer. My niece has asked for this for Christmas so would of been ideal.

Firstly let me say this IS NOT directed at dtaylor but the 3 quoted posts seemed to sum up to some extent the point I am about to make.

Secondly I have no axe to grind as such - I DID get one of the Free Pictureka games - although it was at the 3rd most distant Argos from where I live.
However I did ONLY get this at this store due to an online reservation I made last night for the "WRONG" (not £0.00) product and the fact the Argos staff did not realise I was getting something that I should not actually be entitled to.
The 2 nearer stores DID NOT have (what turned out to be) the "wrong product" in stock last night and therefore it was not possible to make a reservation closer to home.

BUT ... and the reason for this post ...

Stores NOT having stock when indeed they DID have stock ....

... but due to reservations nobody could have it.

Let me explain.

I collected mine (the "incorrect reservation") just 5 minutes before closing ... having had a little chat with the store manager (I didn't let on about my reservation) following on from similar chats at 2 other branches of Argos in the previous 35 minutes

The store in question only had 12 of the correct FREE Pictureka games to give away today.

BUT the store CLOSED tonight with FOUR of the correct Pictureka games sitting on a shelf despite turning away people with coupons and, according to the manager(s), the games will mostly likely get returned to HASBRO - the manufacturer and "sponsor" of this give away.

ALL the store managers made it clear that nobody would be allowed to use the TODAY ONLY coupon tomorrow or any other day.

My nearest store, just 30 minutes before closing, had only given away 9 of their initial stock of 15 games - 6 reserved waiting to be "lost"
The next nearest also had 6 reservations just 20 minutes before closing - sadly HALF of the stock of 12 they opened with

So whilst it may have been very friendly and helpful etc. etc. for some - it does seem by doing this "we" have somewhat "shot ourselves in the foot" and denied ourselves a significant quantity of what Argos were trying to GIVE US !
