Why hasn't the OP come back to report their success or lack with getting their payment?

Probably because their payment was due today and they probably received it today.

of course...those six weeks unemployed must have had a huge impact on your life that 24 years later you remember exactly what day you got a giro ;)

I had to laugh at that because that's exactly what I can remember. I signed on for about a month in the 80s, between leaving school and finding my first job, and my pay day was a Saturday after signing on on a Thursday. It even had the pay day on my signing on card (UB40?) as a Saturday.

I remeber the post sometimes turning up after 12.30 meaning I couldn't cash the giro until the following Monday.

Lets face it he is raking it in, Income support, DLA, Carers allowance, housing benefit, council tax benefit and lives in a council house, has a disabled persons railcard and claims legal aid. No wonder this country is going broke. It's crazy when people on benefits are better off than people who work.
I think you're missing the crucial point here. The OP is on ESA/DLA etc because they CANNOT work. People who cannot work are subsidised in these benefits. I'm sure the OP would gladly take full health and a job over their illness and benefits.

Its easy to say they should manage but if you've ever had MH problems you'd know how hard it can be to manage money.

The OPs gets so much more than ESA and DLA, the ammount they get to subsidise there living costs, IS and CA etc. make their income well over double the basic ammount of ESA/DLA

Carer claiming IS, disabled person claiming ESA - the claims should eventually be merged, but they do still exist.
My wifes a carer she cant get IS
That would be because she gets a premium on your ESA. Not everyone has the same circumstances, some IS claims go back further than ESA.
