Am i..? I thought if you were on benefits, they could not take benefit money from your account to pay loans, overdrafts etc and also use for ofsetting of other accounts. If i am wrong i apologise to the OP but i am sure i read it on this site somewhere.
You probably have read it on the site somewhere - many people think this is the case. In a recent thread about this type of thing I gave the answer which can be seen here:
http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.php?p=37726402&postcount=16
The whole thread is here: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/2806814
The OP can use appropriation but there is no guarantee of success.
There is no "right" a specific method of payment - i.e no right to payment into an account, only entitlement to the payment by the due date. The benefit is not due until monday. If there was an issue with the system which generates the payments, for example, a server failing then this is outwith the control of DWP. The DWP could in such a scenario, still pay by banking transfer or personal issue on Monday.
Managing an account is the responsibility of the account holder. Any coverage of bank charges by DWP would be as a gesture of goodwill; there is no absolute legal right to this. DWP cannot be expected to know, nor can they be held responsible for how each individual chooses to manage their account. In addition, as others have stated, having D/D debited on the same day credits are due where there is no other funds in the account is an irresponsible way of managing one's account. The OP can request DWP cover any charges but there is no legal basis for which he could insist on it.
Just one of the many reasons DWP actively encourage people to open post office card accounts in which to receive benefit payments.0 -

I am suprised then why so many banks that have customers coming to them quoting appropriation seem to cave in and give it back. Thanks for clearing it up. I would still advise though to give it a go. The bank as you say can either say yes or no0 -

How come the OP needs a crisis loan when they appear to have £300 (ish) set aside to pay a security deposit to remove a Pre-payment meter?

Which part are you having difficulty understanding? I will be more than happy to break it down for you as you clearly cannot understand what is being said.
aww sweet, I know where you are coming from of course saturday is not a payday but for some of the long term unemployed (such as op) they see the day the money is in the bank as the "payday"
No offence, I was just having a silly sunday
