Come off it Kim - the OP is on income support - how you expect people on benefits to have a months income in their account is beyond me. Pointless and rude post!

I expect them to have cover for their Direct Debits in their accounts. What is is strange about that? You adjust your spending according to your income. If he can afford to pay by debits he can afford to manage his generous income correctly. If he doesn't want to pay bank charges don't pay by debit.

To be fair AM, with the various premiums they get, the OP's income will be higher than that of many working people.
    Gone ... or have I?
  • But he would have had money in the account to cover the direct debit if his income support was in on time?

I don't understand the part where you say "if he can afford to pay by direct debit"...aren't direct debit payments usually an effective way of reducing costs...why should he not be allowed to do this just because on income support?

DMG...I actually full heartedly agree with this comment but we don't know that for sure :)

Lets face it he is raking it in, Income support, DLA, Carers allowance, housing benefit, council tax benefit and lives in a council house, has a disabled persons railcard and claims legal aid. No wonder this country is going broke. It's crazy when people on benefits are better off than people who work.

I completely agree - it is important that poor people manage their incomes and accounts like grown-ups so they can take advantage of such opportunities.

And we'll see in a few months after you have made more than 22 posts and after you have experienced more of Bryando's post just how patient and understanding of him you remain. (I do usually manage to just ignore his exasperating flurries.)

And as my money always goes in on a Monday, Direct Debt charges will occur due to the DWP being late. So can see a complaint going in.

Why on earth would you arrange for DDs to leave your account on the same day a benefit payment is due in?

Sounds like a recipe for complete banking disaster to me.
