Which one? A quick Google search throws up three possibilities (there may be more):
I'm guessing it's not the first one because they specifically mention the following on their website:
Star Loans and Finance Limited are in no way connected to any company that take upfront fees directly from clients bank accounts.
  • I've got to say, although a lot of the comments are absolutely true and people should not be giving out their card details or can expect to get burnt etc etc...I think some of the responses are a little harsh. Ok so the original poster got a bit wound up in response but I can hardly blame her. So she made a mistake - we all make mistakes, especially when feeling somewhat desperate in a financial situation. Equally, they are not necessarily 'scammers' as they wouldn't get away with it, but you have to admit that they are deliberately misleading and not for the customer's benefit. If you don't like what someone has to say, don't have any sympathy and think they have only themselves to blame then fine. Is it really necessary to tell them so though? I am sure the poster wouldn't have reacted so aggressively if people had been a little more subtle in their reaction.

I am highly educated yet I too have been known to take out a loan with a ridiculous interest amount in a desperate financial situation. Even though I have the capacity to think logically and weigh up the relative benefits or negative aspects, that can go out of the window when you are feeling like you have nowhere to turn. Obviously a lot of people would call it 'stupid' behaviour, and in hindsight I probably would too. However, at the time I wasn't able to think as clearly as I can now. If I'm looking at anything now I carefully read and digest the financial implications - however, if I wasn't intelligent I'd find a lot of the information quite confusing or be tempted by an offer that seems better than it actually is. These companies prey on desperate people who don't necessarily know better.

Your post outlines precisely why there are so many of this type of company.

It's easy money. Far too easy.
  • Yes agreed, and I'm not supporting them - far from it! If the option didn't exist, people wouldn't be taken in. However, unfortunately that's not going to happen so the best people can do is to warn others - even if the way they go about it isn't put in the best way.
