A fine win. Thank goodness the rain stayed away.
Lets hope this isn't propheticJonnyBravo wrote: »...keeping our quick bowlers fit will be of chief concern.
If our first line bowlers able to bowl at will we'll be ok. Otherwise we're in the doings.
Granted not caused by the wicket but we can't afford to lose Finn or Anderson now.0 -

You replace him with someone who goes for 4 or 5 an over and Strauss feels he can't use the replacement much. More pressure on the others. It is a big loss.0 -
Stolen from Boycott in the Torygraph:"Rolf Harris, Dame Edna, Kylie Minogue, Shane Warne, Crocodile Dundee, your boys took a hell of a beating!!"
It almost feels a bit surreal TBH.In case you hadn't already worked it out - the entire global financial system is predicated on the assumption that you're an idiot:cool:0 -

The aussies are a complete shambles, the only basis for picking Doherty seemed to be the fact that Pietersen struggles against slow left arm bowlers
!!!!!!
Tremlett appears the favourite to replace Broad, as I said no big loss apart from being a poorer batsman, but the way the aussies are bowling he won't be needing to put his pads on anyway.
Obviously a more laid back character than Broad but he will cause them problems with his height and bounce,if he can trouble Tendulkar like he did in 2007, then anything is possible.0 -

It is OK, now we are one up we can just field eleven batsmen

No point. They could put you in at number 10 and me at number 11 and they'd never know how good or bad we are as England would have declared long before we had to try to work out which end of the racket to hold.nomoreboomandbust wrote: »Broad out for the rest of the ashes tour, I don't think that it will be such a loss, maybe more for his batting if England manage to lose more than 6 wickets in an innings, in doesnt matter as they are so much stronger than the aussies.
Hussey's out that could be curtains.
I think England has some strength in depth in the faster end of the bowling department. I'd worry if Swanny was injured but we've got plenty of decent quicks.
We've got to lose that 1990s mindset that you pick a bowler because he can bat a bit. We've got the batting to provide a target for the bowlers to bowl at and we've got the bowlers to knock over the other side.
England are as good with the bat as Australia and better with the ball. Eng are not as good as India IMO but we'd give them a game every time.0 -
but we've got plenty of decent quicks
Too many.
Choosing the right one to include might be the toughest choice Flower and Strauss have on this tour.
It's nice if your #8 can bat a little, but I don't consider Bresnan as a real allrounder (neither is Broad yet) and the decision has to be which of the 3 'spares' is likely to bowl the better at the WACA, nothing else.
Broad wasn't in the team cos he batted better than the other 3, so his replacement shouldn't be chosen on that criteria either.'In nature, there are neither rewards nor punishments - there are Consequences.'0 -
I think it'll be Bresnan because I think there'll be a green top produced and he'll do best on that. Also, just because I like him.0

Are you sure about that ? does the batting line up of 8 to 11 formed by Caddick, mullaly, tufnell and giddings from the 90's ring any bells ?
Also, if Swann is injured there's always Monty, he bowled quite well in Perth 4 years ago0 -

...and who can forget Cardiff 2009
