I think you are reading about the final nail in RP's career.;)
Ponting has outscored the extras given away by Australia in an innings once so far this series. That was when England declared for the loss of a single wicket.
The closing words as I left the pub on Xmas eve were, "The trouble with you Poms is you've got no heart when you're under pressure."

According to the commentators here there's not been a 1st innings score below 100 since WW1.0 -

My daughter and SIL were there as guests of his Aussie relatives. Knowing her propensity to crow, I just hope they still have a bed for the night
Murphy was an optimist!!!0 -
England bowled brilliantly and batted well against mediocre Australian bowling.
I don't think the Aussies did too much wrong with the bat. England just never gave them a chance to get in.
The one eyed Yorkie Boycott thinks the Aussies were rubbish with the bat.

Untrue according to the Torygraph.

Over 84,000 fans witnessed Australia's lowest Test score at the MCG since 1981.
It was Australia's lowest score against England since 1968...
...and their lowest against England in Australia since 1936
Reason to be cautious:
The last time Australia posted their previous record low back in 1876-77 they went on to win the Test by 45 runs to square what was then only a two-match series 1-1.
;);)
BTW, why do the aussie fans only sing when they are winning?

I think the Torygraph is talking scores in both innings, I am talking about in the 1st innings.
Since WW1 there was an 80 for Aus in the 1st innings but that included a retired hurt so not all out.0 -
Looks like we'll be setting them a lead of 400 or thereabouts with 2.5 days to get them out. Things are so desperate, the Aussie commentators are playing 'Fantasy Save The Game', ie which players would you want to have on your side in this position.
They've come up with Langer, Boycott and Bill Lawry so far. AFAICS none of those names feature on the score card in this match.
To win the match, Australia will have to bowl out England before lunch (possible) score 500 at 100 runs a session (unlikely) and then bowl out England for less than 100 in 2 sessions (LOL!).0 -
2 days & 4 wickets?
Looks like game over to me.In case you hadn't already worked it out - the entire global financial system is predicated on the assumption that you're an idiot:cool:0
