Having only been on here for 2 years and in that time starting a thread just the once (about the uk fishing fleet and unfair EU quotas) I was sad/!!!!!! off to see it got moved to the Moneysavers Arms after only one night... So I hope you will allow me to air my views on this thread........

It has Naff all to do with debating house prices or the economy so why is it still here???

Oh I should have known my place, I'm not in that little group of posters who have influence................... Oh and by the way I love cricket.....

Your views are very welcome on this thread as far as I am concerned I can't speak for the [STRIKE]moderators[/STRIKE] board guides.

There is a direct correlation between England's success in the Ashes and the early or lateness at which people arrive at work the following morning. That has an impact on GDP and therefore there is a clear and direct link between the Ashes and the economy. And if you'll believe that you'll believe anything!!!

I don't know how to break this to you GHOULISH, but I think you've got more chance of being locked down first.

Yeah, there's a thunderstorm predicted for today and showers for Tuesday. They should get plenty of overs in though.

The Aussie bowling 'attack' has taken 6/1081 in the last 2 English innings.

Xavier 'Couldn't spin a record' Doherty has figures of 2-269 for the series in other words a test bowling average of 134.5.

I am surprised they are batting on, this is the Sporting Life take on it.
Declare?: England, one hopes and prays, will declare on their overnight score of 551-4. A lead of 306 with an iffy weather forecast will surely be plenty. We've seen every day of this match that the morning is the best time to bowl. Time to get at them. Please. We'll find out soon enough.
Batting: It seems England are going to bat on, thus throwing away the best - nay, only - time to be bowling. I'm not as surprised as I should be: Strauss can be a desperately negative captain. Mystifying. The only thing that makes it understandable is the clear blue sky overhead.

I guess Straus's take on it was we don't want to leave ourselves having to bat again as you lose some time to the changeover. Better to do the batting on the surface while it's more benign and leave the Aussies watch the surface crumble from under them. I don't necessarily agree but I can see where he's coming from.

I understand the ground staff 'forgot' to cover the nets during practice before the game. Any chance of the match being abandoned due to a damp wicket do you think.....?

To save the match, from my look on cricinfo statsguru it looks like the Aussies would need the 3rd highest ever 4th innings score here. The 1st and 2nd highest both ended in the side making the score losing the match.

I think it is unlikely that the Aussie's will bat the 4th innings in this match.

Unless they declare overnight, and Strauss gives them another go.

I'm not so sure. Who takes the penalties in their team? And are we playing name the pocket for the black?
These rule changes can be very confusing.

    4 wickets down.

Only the rain or something very special indeed from Katitch or North can save them now. After they've gone, the hutch is open.

That's why it would be something special.
