Each to their own and I wish you all the best with the Laguna. I just hope you got a good one.Near a tree by a river, there's a hole in the ground.
Where an old man of Aran goes around and around....0 -
I noticed that with my last car, I don't understand either, as it doesn't happen with the petrol ones...Having said that, I once filled one of my other cars up (petrol), and had the smell of diesel on my hand. That worried me for a few miles, lol.AndersLimpar wrote: »I got my hand covered in diesel this lunchtime, i agree, every pump is plastered in it...
Does seem odd, ive never understood how any fuel can get on the handle itself..nozzle out of holder, into car, out of car, into holder....at what point do some people put their hand infront of the spout and wipe it on the handle????0 -

It's because Diesel does not evaporate like petrol does. Splashes/Drops will build up on the pump and will stay there... Hence smelly hands... the Diesel will then attract dust and dirt Hence dirty hands.0 -
Mystery solved!!
Re Turbo lag, its horendous on my Golf GT TDI 130. As somebody said, at roudabouts where a swift gettaway is required it can get a bit dodgy, you need to hoof it in first gear otherwise you get to second and its like you have all the power of a Puch Maxi under your foot for 3 or 4 seconds..nothing nothing nothing nothing POOOOWWWEEEERRRRRRRRRRRR.....

You guys talking about "turbo lag" ... are you sure you might not benefit from new Mass Air Flow probes? My 1.9TDi Audi went off the boil around 150K and for £45 to a German eBay site I got its life back on track

And yes, the grotty pump handles ... probably because diesel doesn't evaporate like petrol and "runs" down the handle if you don't shake the drips
... oh and you are sharing with Mr white van man/MacD whilst driving/didn't wash hands after clearing the drains who of course is filling up twice as often as you. I never use the pumps without finding gloves or an armful of paper roll. 0 -

Puch Maxi?
A name from too many decades ago, we could out accelerate on our pushbikes for the first few yards.

The engine these days are fine, but be aware major parts wear out.
Was the DMF done at a main dealer? If not that is extremely expensive!0 -

From " Funky Moped;"Curiously, as the book says, it was a change in the law by Transport Minister John Peyton on December 15, 1971, that started it all.
His "sixteener law", in the interests of road safety, was intended to take all 16-year-olds off the roads - until then they had been able to ride bikes up to 250cc - and force them to turn to mopeds like the grannies' 50cc shopping bike.
By 1972, reports Richard, the motorcycle industry had developed the sports moped - really a motorcycle, faster than the Government had intended and with pedals as a token gesture to comply with the law.
Among the first were the Puch BS50 capable of 35-40mph and said to be "probably the nearest machine to a motorcycle" available to 16-year-olds. Garelli brought its established Rekord and the new Tiger cross with a top speed of 57mph.
By 1974 there was a 40% jump in the number of accidents involving under 50cc machines. It was probably down to the booming numbers rather than the speed of the machines, says Richard.

No it was indeed SPEED in numbers as in hoards of screaming Yamaha FS1Es tweaked to the limit :cool:By 1974 there was a 40% jump in the number of accidents involving under 50cc machines. It was probably down to the booming numbers rather than the speed of the machines, says Richard.0
