It depends on the age and price. How much do they want for it?

    How many owners?

Taxi plate holes in the bumper?

My Nissan X-Trail diesel (pre-Renault engine version) expired at only 37 months/73,000 miles and that was fully maintained and well looked after. New engine cost over £8500 including fuel pump and car hire. Nissan paid 90% fortunately!

Not sure I'd want to touch it, depends on price and service history tbh. If it's cheap and has had oil changed at shorter than recommended intervals it might be alright. The diesel engines used in the Lag II were crap though.

I like the look of Lagunas, always have, but I would only ever have a petrol.

    I have a 2.0 16V Laguna II - it's awesome. 32MPG hurts though :rotfl:

not as much as having to rebuild a diesel engine or replace a turbo...

Turbos are cheap. Several diesel engined vehicles I've driven were on well over 1,000,000km and never needed a spanner to the engine.

Not on a Renault Laguna 1.9 DCi though! And when they go bang they really go bang, too much risk, though if you can find a really nice one at a good price they would be a candidate for driving till they go bang then break for spares, as far as fixing one goes, nah, too much money.

    Lots of negativity lol

Well i picked it up. Still on original clutch and box etc. Turbo got done at 100k and cambelt done 3k ago.

Body work is mint and interior is spotless too. Engine idles perfectly and there is no smoke when accelerating.

Drove it back from west London last night and i averaged 47mpg around town. Got half a tank of diesel and it estimates i've got 370 miles until the refill.

Definately slower than my renault sport clio 197 but i need a cheap diesel due to a small child and it's a dime.

If it goes bang then i'll change cars but i don't see anything happening if i keep it serviced.

Going to do oil and filter every 6 months from now on due to mileage but it defo does not drive like it's done 146k.

got much more of a car than £1500

Let's hope they put new belt tensioners on at the same time as the new belt. If not, look forward to a major repair bill in about 22k miles when they let-go.

Yeah they're a lot of car for the money - I have a 2007 07 one which obviously cost me a bit more than £1500 but so much less than the original £17k price tag it's unreal :rotfl::T

What trim level is it? :)

At that price then you ay aswell employ my tactic as posted earlier, drive it until the bang, though it may last for years, the only thing about it is there is sometimes no warning.
