And remember it's not a test, she's just trying to see what you play like and where she needs to start!
(says the girl who worried all the way to her first lesson last week about getting into trouble because she hadn't done her non-existent homework from a teacher she'd never met yet:rotfl: :rotfl:)

I know what you mean Cheery, it's weird going for lessons as an adult, you don't feel rebellious for not practising you just feel embarrassed and a bit sore from paying for a lesson you can't make the most of!
we have had quite a few lessons where I haven't practised but just wanted to go and play for an hourbut ultimately I have realised it's all for me now, and if I don't practice then there is no one to tell me off any more :rotfl:

Quite right lionheartedgirl! I did confess my fear of being shouted at - she laughed and said 'why would I shout?? You wouldn't come back if I shouted!'0

Thanks you two.. and very good points
I'm currently torn between probably my favourite piece which has a few tricky bits that I'm likely to mess up with nerves, and one which I like but don't love, which I can pretty much play through but doesn't really have any 'problems' to work on... chances are I'll make my mind up on the night depending how I feel
It's Friday! :T and the one meeting I had on today has just been cancelled, so hopefully I can have a quiet-ish one (and hopefully less grrr! than yesterday). Payday today as well, so start of the new budgeting/ spending diary... gulp.
Not much planned for the weekend, some study but mostly chilling out I think - me and the cat had a little chat last night about doing some snoozing on the lawn if it's sunny (I think even the cat is tired this week, she refused to move off the dining room chair where she sleeps this morning!)Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -
I suppose I should post up the budget for the month then!
Income
£1293
£750 (from second job if they ever get round to paying me)
£12 (Quidco, goes straight to overdraft)
£2043
Budgets
Rent £350
Phone £48.50
Groceries £100
Eating out £30
Lunches £10
Badminton £24
Flute lessons £45 (half hour trial plus one hour lesson, although I think if I decide to keep going I need to pay for a term in advance)
Debts £320
Overdraft £62
Course books/ sheet music £50
Paris apt (my half) £200
£1236
Balance £807
Debt is currently £5179.69 and savings £600 (although if second job doesn't pay on time I might have to dip into those then put them back).
Assuming I do have £800-ish left, the plan would be to put £500 into main savings account and £300 into another one to go towards paying one debt off in full by the end of the year (balance on that one is currently about £1150).
Not budgeted for toiletries as I'm pretty well stocked up and have about £9 of Advantage Card points if I need anything.
I think the groceries budget is fairly accurate having looked at this week - what we ate worked out at just over £50 for the two of us (including putting in £15 for a takeaway tonight)! Although I do know some weeks are worse than that when we haven't got things in.. stocking up is the answerDebt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -
Ooh, looking good Squizz! :T :T :T
£45 flute lessons - eek! Mind you, sounds like they're probably more professional than mine(which I'm perfectly happy with - wanted the casualness!) Good on your groceries budget :T :T

Eek indeed.. hence why I won't be going every week! (and also why I am also wondering if I can ever get good enough to teach.. not that I'd be good enough to charge £30 an hour but still...)
Actually quite enjoying work today - looking up obscure funding bodiesDebt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -
You're good enough to teach now! :T :T In fact, I probably should have got you to teach me :rotfl: :rotfl: Honestly, my flute teacher told me to start teaching when I was about 16 (which I didn't, although I wish I had!). You can easily start off with some young'uns right at the beginning, you know more than you think! :T :T0

I did teach a couple of younger friends at school when I was 14-15ish - I'd probably be OK with beginners but want to get a few of my own little bad habits sorted out first (oh and try and remember all the scales again)
