Squizz, all I'll say about the flaw in your plan is, "what Hypno said" :D:D:D

    Hi
you do so much by way of jams, preserves etc. that I don't think it would take much tweaking to cut £1.33 off your budget each day. I think the spending diary will give you a bit of a shock.
I gave up on surveys for a while, but still do a few at weekends, and the vouchers aren't much but come in handy at that event you won't name. My plans for that event include :-
truffles, chutney, soap, bath salts, vouchers from survey sites, various knitted things, jewelery.

You are far more enterprising than me, so you will definitely come up with something.

Hi Fudgefund :hello: thanks :) and please do stick around!

A good shock or a bad shock Gill? :D I don't think it will reflect what I have been spending recently as I am consciously being more careful now - but that in itself has got to be a good thing. Looking forward to payday so I can get started :rotfl:

I was thinking about some homemade things for "the event that shall not be named" - I don't have loads of people to get/make presents for so it shouldn't be too bad.

Badminton was good last night - we are both improving but unfortunately at the same rate so Mr S is still better than me :p Got some things planted in the garden for autumn/ winter crops (spinach and other assorted green things, new batch of beetroot) and picked our first courgette :T

Off to research place thingy in a bit, not hugely enthusiastic about that but hey, there's a free lunch!

Well, that was actually really interesting! A lot of the engineering stuff went over my head but fascinating to find out that they're doing research focussed on keeping manufacturing in the UK, on land that used to be a big mining area. Plus the new buildings and processes are really green - was more interested in the ground source heating than anything. Ooh and I got to wear a hard hat, which is always good :)

I love the hard hat and high viz jacket look personally, its one of my faves :)

Its amazing how many new buildings these days are trying very hard to be green. Where I used to work had an underground rainwater tank that was used for flushing and for washing vans.

Right, have just done another scary thing.. I have two separate accounts with the OU (one from years ago) and have just asked them to merge them. This is scary because I have a horrible feeling I might owe them some money on the old one :o If I do, I think it will only be a couple of hundred at the most so I should be able to sort that out OK. I have also downloaded the forms for credit transfer for courses done elsewhere so I can count those towards my degree.

OK, heard back on this and yes there is some money to be paid back, but I need to contact a different dept to find out how much. Can't merge the two accounts until I've finished my two current 'live' courses anyway so there's no great rush as that won't be until July/ August next year.

Well done for trying Squizz! :T :T

And hooray for an interesting trip! :T :T :T

I've done a spending diary for the past couple of weeks - frightening stuff   Paid on Friday - so new budget starts when I get back from being a pirate for the weekend :p

    Pirate? :D

Same here - payday on Friday, and spending diary/ budget starts then. Been figuring out how much our meals have cost this week and it's looking like about £45-50 for both of us including a takeaway tomorrow.. which really isn't bad but it's not always that cheap - the big thing that's helped this week is being well stocked up with stuff from the farmers market.

Am having a teeny bit of a wobble about second job as for one thing they still haven't paid me this month, and for another, just heard that the person I'm covering for is maybe coming back next week - was given the impression that my current level of pay was permanent but now have my doubts about whether it might be about to vanish. Ah well, I'll manage.

In other news.. finally booked apartment for Paris, well, almost - have emailed to check availability of the one we've decided on. Tootled a bit - trying to decide between three pieces for lesson next week (NEXT WEEK!!!).... and we still have no hot water (plumber coming on Monday - MONDAY ) but kind of getting used to brief cold showers and washing with a kettle-full of hot water in the sink.. wouldn't be much fun in winter though :o
