Should find out today - gulp! And my appraisal this afternoon - sort of gulp, but considering I have a catch-up with my manager every week I'm not too worried about this. Although I might be asleep by then - got woken in the middle of the night by Mr S's phone beeping because the battery was dying.. we use it as an alarm clock so thought I'd better find the charger.. and then attempt to plug the silly fiddly thing in in the dark!

Had quite a productive day yesterday, got loads of stuff done on the website for work then a massive sort out for second job. Ordered some new trainers - £15 instead of £70 :D - and found some old spare headphones at home so the falling apart didn't cost me too much. Will spend a bit this weekend - farmers market tomorrow then I think we're heading out round town on Sunday to local music festival thing at assorted venues! Also want to go to pick-your-own fruit place at some point if the weather's OK.

Thanks Cheery! I'm not quite sure what we're going to see on Sunday yet - someone who works with Mr S is playing the xylophone (I think!) in a band somewhere and then there were a few other things that all clashed with each other.. so will see where we end up!

Gah, I want to know about interview NOW!

Good luck with all things jobbified! I have just had my 1:1 and for the first time in a little while have pushed myself forward with some fairly bold suggestions for my future, which seem to have been received as pretty good ideas which can be easily incorporated :D

Now it is up to me to prove myself....but if I do, then the rewards should be forthcoming in 12 months time or so!

Good on you Hypno :D I'm a bit torn between being sticking to the plans for this job and telling my manager that I don't really want to be doing this for too much longer.. will see how it pans out I think.

I'll bear that in mind Cheery :D Just had a look at the programme and blimey there's a lot on!!

I certainly don't want to leave this place I have to say, and would have no intention of doing so. However, being the only female in a mans world, you do have to constantly push forward in order not to get left behind by the next generation of public schoolboys.....

Since OH left, I have been a bit more content to just "be" at work, being less willing to take on any additional stress because I had enough going on with just getting on with "stuff", but this time I was ready to say "Actually......."

And I am very glad I did.

    Bring it on :D

Go Hypno! :T I wouldn't actually mind doing a more interesting job in the same place, or this job part-time along with something else.

As I was saying over on your thread, I've been working on a budgeting/ saving challenge.. figured out how much I will earn over the rest of the year, and how much I'm likely to spend. Based on my current earnings, I have the potential to pay off £2500 of my debt and save £2500 IF I can raise what amounts to about an extra £3.50 a day (either through extra things or cutting back). Considering I have been rubbish at bringing lunches to work and spending about that much a day on average the last couple of weeks, that really shouldn't be too hard.

Of course, if a new job appears, I might have to have a re-think!

I have a very good storecupboard (or carrier bag) under my desk, and fill it with tins of soup, cup a soups, those individual boxes of cereal you have when you go on holiday, instant noodles etc etc etc.

I fully accept that I am not organised enough, or inclined, to make a lunch every day at home, and also I don't always know when I am going "out" for lunch, so to have stuff that I can whack in the microwave, or make with just boiling the kettle has also helped.

If you have a microwave you can use, the covent garden soups are a yummy bargain if they are on offer in the supermarkets, - £1 a carton, and they easily do two lunches.....

Also, if you can get some of those little pots of jams and honey like they have in hotels (or swipe a couple of extras if you are in a B&B), then you can just buy a fresh baguette or something and have butter and jam at your desk.....nom nom nom :D

Mm making me hungry Hypno! I used to be really good at being stocked up with noodles, soups, etc, just let it slip lately. Same with bringing things from home - maybe I need to make a batch of my own 'ready meals' for the freezer.

Well, I have been appraised. Manager is really pleased with me, as apparently I am enthusiastic and want to make things work better rather than just 'doing the job' (not so sure about the first bit but the second is true I suppose!).. now have a scary long list of objectives for the coming year (assuming I'm still here of course), one of which is to "raise my profile" around the organisation

    Still no news on interview...
