Hey Squizz, just popping on to read the plan and second what the others have said about surveys. I've made quite a bit lately which I have just spent on me, but I could have saved for the event in December! Also food wise do you have an Ald* or Lid* near you or could you do an Appr0ved F00ds order a la MG. She does soooo well and so cheaply. If you'd rather eat local then thats fine but these are good for basics like pasta and rice, even if you do want to buy better meat and veg (or are you veggie, cant remember). Good job this is the DFD board as I'd be chased from OS for saying some the above, on so many levels!!!! X'The road to a friends house is never long'0

You're right, the survey vouchers are useful - OK this month I will attempt any that come my way, I still get emails from them.
There's an Ald* nearby that we use for some basics sometimes, but I think local corner shop is cheaper for pasta and rice (and obscure grains, beans etc). Keep meaning to have a look at App Foods too. Trying to stick to as local as possible for meat and veg.
Oh yes, veg.. I made a list yesterday of things that can be planted now for autumn/ winter crops.. unfortunately that might mean a small spend on seedsDebt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -
Well done on the essay and fitting in the lazy weekend.0

Thanks Se! Making a start on the next essay now (well, not right now as I'm at work).. got two to go, which I really want to get out of the way by early September so I have at least a month of revising time for the exam.
Badminton last night was.. interesting. Mr S was in a bad mood as the boiler-fixing man didn't turn up, and I was in a bad mood because the boiler-fixing man hadn't turned up, and because Mr S was moaning that he couldn't leave the house to get any food just in case the boiler-fixing man turned up (our nearest shop is about 30 seconds walk, and it transpired later he had managed to go for toilet roll and wine...). Anyway grumpy badminton - in extreme heat - seemed to work for Mr S but I was totally rubbish! Still good exercise though.
Flute teacher phoned while I was grumpy badmintoning to make final arrangements for Thursday - phoned her back when I got in and had a nice little chat - amused me greatly that she took a while to answer the phone and then went "oooh sorry I was just on the sofa with a big G&T!".. slightly scared me that she kept talking about "someone at your level" - think she might be expecting me to be less rusty than I am!
On the money front - had to buy food last night, spent £14 on stuff for lunch today for both of us, a couple of breakfasts, and tea for last night and tonight. Got a couple of survey emails (one says it takes 40 minutes.. urgh).. got Quidco payment yesterday which went straight to overdraft and I rounded up (down) debt total to £5160 with a few extra pounds.
Think I've found something for my dad's 60th present, which costs about £80, so may need a small budget shuffle around.
Other than that, I was really lazy at work yesterday so better get stuck in a bit today!Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -
Oh dear Squizz! Grumpiness and exercise and no hot water does not a happy relationship make sometimes!
(and I reckon flute teacher is scared of you)

Awwww.... what Cheery said.
I'd forgotten about the different calendar year for OU .... you're on a build up, aren't you?
Can't believe you're still managing without hot water! You're a very hardy Squizz!2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -

:rotfl:Dunno about scared - she did seem quite excited at the prospect of seeing what my playing was like thoughAwwww.... what Cheery said.

Ah, well, we had showers at the gym last night, and there is another boiler-fixing man due to come today. But actually it has made me think about how much hot water I generally use. Good practice for when we get the water meter.
I've always thought it was quite mean of the OU for its year to involve studying over the summer and getting results just before Christmas! They have started doing some courses to a different timetable though - my next one starts in October and finishes in June/ July.. not entirely looking forward to the small overlap between them :eek:Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -
I have notebooks! Ok, I should explain.. I bought a lovely notebook in January (I think) with the intention of carrying it around with me and using it to note stuff down (strangely enough) rather than using the backs of receipts etc. Unfortunately I now can't find it
Anyway, I have just been to Oxfam and got two lovely little recycled paper notebooks - one for flutey stuff, like what I'm supposed to be practising, and the other for general rambling, lists etc. Bets on whether I actually use them and/ or how long it takes to lose one of them are very welcome... :rotfl:
