OMG you were too young for Cracker the first time round? Slinks off feeling very old..lolBlackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?
Still lurking around with a hope of some salvation:cool:0 -
:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: Bob, she's practically a babe in arms! Well, she's not
sorry Squizz, but she's most certainly of a different generation. I think I freaked out when I learned that I'm older than Cheery's mum, for instance _pale__pale__pale_ that did me in for a little while
2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
LOL I certainly don't feel that young these days, especially when I'm dealing with PhD students ten years younger than me! I did check the date on Cracker though, and it was 1993-4, so I was early teens
Happily been paid by second job now - £582 - which should help me work out how much I get for so many hours but I can't remember at the moment how many I claimed for :rotfl: (I think it was 80). Anyway part of that is going to the farm fund, part to Mr S for what I owe him for the hotel on holiday and the rest into savings I reckon.
Spent last night mostly reading/ studying - bit scared by my own study plan but just keep thinking about next July when the degree will be finished!Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -
Ok so having sent money to Mr S, the finances now look like this:
Current account - £173
Prepaid card - £100 (holiday cheap flights fund)
Savings account - £500
Total £773
Attempt at sums for next month:
Pay 1 £1290
Pay 2 £300 (approx)
Left in current account £100 (approx)
Total £1690
Rent £350
Debts £320
Phone £15
Farm £100 (initial investment)
Total £785
Balance £905 current account >>>> another £500 to savings account so...
Balance £405 current account, £1000 savings
Blimey... really?.... *falls over*Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -

Thanks Hypno.. I'm a little bit stunned. I don't think I've ever had £1000 in a savings account in my life! Obviously the debt still has to go but this actually makes me feel almost on top of things.Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0

I too have savings for the first time in a long time - and I keep logging into online banking just to confirm that they are, actually, still there and mineSuccessful women can still have their feet on the ground. Looking good indeed! Good for you2023: the year I get to buy a car0

Lol Hypno, I did that a couple of times yesterday :rotfl:
Did my sums properly re second job pay last night so I know that the next lot of pay should be £330 or £415 depending on when this cover finishes (don't know exactly if/when the person I'm covering for is coming back).
Apart from that, I studied a bit, repotted the squash seedling which has suddenly shot up, and picked 7 massive garlics from the veg patch
Did a bit of a job search yesterday - saved a few which I would be interested in except they're in the wrong place or I don't have quite the right experience. Gives me an idea what's out there though. Got my appraisal at work next month so trying to figure out what sort of areas I can develop here (if I have to be here!) to help with other things. It does ask on the form about 'career aspirations' but I can't imagine "get out of here" would go down very well!Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -
And just to prove that I've not gone totally sensible (as if!), my plans not to buy any new clothes all summer have gone a bit astray - although a wise woman (Se) did say to watch out for lots of things starting to wear out at the same time and indeed they are. Anyway, Dorothy Perkins sale + 10% student discount =
