So you didn't get a matching pink helmet to cycle it back home :D

Just remembered how hilly your town is  You'll definitely get fit.

Not yet.... :) It's actually quite a long way (about 7 miles) so I don't fancy that ride at the moment! Yes it is hilly

Got the bike!! Felt slightly embarrassed giving the woman £1 (she didn't offer me the penny change lol!) but as she said you take your chances with ebay and she's had some amazing bargains herself in the past. Spotted a new Halfords shop on the way there so popped in there for lock, helmet - not pink - and bike pump (these cost me about £20 altogether!). Got it home and pottered about adjusting bits and pieces - it will need new brake blocks on the back but everything else is just a case of cleaning and oiling.. maybe a few new nuts and bolts where they're a bit rusty.

Mr S now has his eye on a 99p bike finishing on Sunday, and the weekend's tasks now involve trying to sort out bike and maybe going for a little ride on it :)

Good for you! Fancy her not giving you the change! There's a graciousness about these things, or there should be, even if she did sell her bike for 99p!

    Enjoy the weekend.

Yeah I thought she might have offered to be honest.. I would!

Kind of busy weekend - felt really fed up with work on Friday and took the afternoon off (had a spare half day's holiday lying around). Spent most of it cleaning and oiling bike and putting new brake pads on, then had a cycle round the local park (more like an expanse of wasteland with some swings!) Didn't fall off :rotfl: Out to Indian restaurant across the road for tea - amazing special offer with a huge meal each for £8.95!

Saturday was mostly gardening - potted tomatoes and aubergine out into big pots, rearranged the greenhouse, planted lots of new salad. Also sorted through stuff we'd been planning to take to the charity shop and decided to eBay some (free listing weekend).. so after a huge amount of messing around trying to find fully charged batteries for the camera, took some photos.. and spent quite a lot of Sunday listing stuff. We've kind of come up with a mini-challenge to make back what we paid for our bikes - oh yes, OUR bikes, Mr S got a new one worth £200 for £47!

    So we have paid:
    My bike - £1
My helmet, lock and pump - £25
    Mr S bike - £47
Not bought yet but Mr S helmet etc - £25
Security measures (big hasp, chain and massive padlock) for keeping bikes in shed - £20
    £118!

Mr S is currently making £32.70 and I am making £3.68 (he is selling much better things than I am - hmmph!) so £36.38 after less than a day :D

Only working 3 days this week then off to London - more or less figured out what we want to do while we're there.

Doing some serious thinking about work.. I'm not sure if it's them or me at the moment - I have definitely slipped in some of my 'positive thinking' that I learned from counselling, but there are a lot of things about the job and the place bothering me at the moment. I am torn between wanting to make a good stab at this for a few years, or making a real effort to get the sort of job I really want to be doing. Hmmmm...

Remember to get the bikes postcode stamped. It might help you get them back if stolen.

Sorry to hear work is bothering you (brill weekend, tho!). I find that the trouble with positive thinking is that it can sometimes disguise the times when you *do* need to take action, as opposed to staying put and changing your atittude. Or, indeed, in some people's cases (like mine, back in the day!) delving deeper via therapy, as opposed to counselling.

Are you going to investigate the possibilities of getting the job you really want, or put it all on hold - mind you, with only 3 days this week, it'd be hard *not* to put it on hold :D

That's a very good point about the positive thinking - I'm not sure which it is at the moment with me, probably a bit of both :o

There is a possibility of something coming out of second job in a few months time, but it wouldn't be enough on its own, I don't think. I'm going to start looking around I reckon, see what's out there...

Ebay update - £54.36... nearly half way! Picked up Mr S's bike last night, it is very snazzy :D Hopefully going out for a little ride tonight.

Still feeling 'meh' about work - I haven't really settled since I was off for over a week at Easter, and the fact I'm not working a full week for the next month probably isn't going to help. I know what I want to do, but it can't be an immediate change unless there's some sort of miracle!
