Thats it! The circle thing .... good luck with breaking it
**yawns as well** - you set me off!2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Sorry
Just been having a look at my online banking - figuring out what I've spent and what I need to do next month.
Interesting things - I have spent £32 on food on my debit card. I've taken out £80 in cash which is mostly food, some toiletries, some gardening stuff. Other big spends were sports stuff at the weekend (£40), airport parking for hols next month (£30), £30 on clothes (not all mine!) and £14 on voucher for the Thai place. And putting £200 into savings for my course, and of course rent (£350) and debts (£320).
Anyway, I have £85 left in the bank - get paid on 31st but have the London weekend before that. Hotel and theatre are paid for so it's just food.. might get away with £85 or might have to borrow a bit out of savings. Lets say worst case I need to 'borrow' £100 back.
That means that next month I get paid £1300 and I'll have £400 in savings = £1700...
I need to pay out:
Rent £350
Phone £15
Fees £700
Total £1065
Balance £635
I've changed the dates on the standing orders for my debts to later in the month so that I will get paid from second job first (Want to make sure I don't end up short when we're on holiday at the start of June).
Expecting approx £450 from second job.. so new balance £1085.
Debts £320.. balance £765
Holiday spends (yes this is a bit backward but it makes sense to me).. £100 each for apartment, plus probably another £100.. balance £565.
So I'm going to aim to save about £300 towards future course fees I think. Talking of which, I had a reply to my query from the other day about a postgraduate foundation course starting in January, which basically said that I need to apply for the course and then "the panel" will assess if I'm suitable (not sure if you have to pay when applying, so I will need to save up the money first - nearly £1500 )
Right... I'm sick of paying these debts and I want to do these courses - I need £7300 by the end of the year... I need to make some more money somehow!Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -
You're really going for it on these courses! I hope you can find the money quickly. Got any premium bonds? You already do two jobs ... hmmm....2023: the year I get to buy a car0
-
No premium bonds sadly! It is a bit difficult to find time to do much else, so I guess a bit of frugality is needed - I will still need to find some extra income though. Keeping my fingers crossed that possible developments in second job go ahead - could mean a very healthy extra monthly amount!
The courses - well I am enjoying it so much.. OK it can be a struggle when I've been at work all day, but I still love doing it.
Anyway, aside from all this forward planning, there are more immediate things to focus on (as Dumbledore says "It does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live"...
Essay now has 1500 words (out of 1800), going to leave it for a few days and go back to it to polish up and finish. Made a start on the next section of the course last night.
Lots to do at work blah blah blah... just got something out of the way that I've been putting off for ages, not sure why!
Still no exercise although I did have quite a lively session of trying to persuade one of the rose plants (it's not a bush it's a wild straggly thing) to grow in the direction I want it, i.e. up the wall and along the fence.
Oh yes and need to have a think about what we want to do in London next weekend - apparently the forecast is for it to be quite hot so might need to find a few parks/ gardens to chill out inDebt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -
Good old Dumbledore! Isn't it amazing how authors find ways to slide in these profound truths

2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Morning! Had a good evening/ morning - got some studying done, went out for a walk.. had a chat about the fact we were looking at bikes at the weekend and should get some second hand ones to give it a go before we decided if we wanted to buy new ones.. had a look on ebay and found one locally starting at 99p.. put a bid on before I went to bed and woke up to find I'd won it.. for 99p!
So I am now the proud owner of a very pink bike, or will be when I arrange to pick it up. Just need to find Mr S one now. Halfords have got 3 for 2 on bike accessories, so will pop down there for helmets and whatever else we might need. Maybe paint too as I'm not sure about the pink, I don't do pink!!
Was supposed to be at a course this morning on 'influencing skills' but really couldn't face it - I signed up a while ago when I was signing up for lots of things, sure it would have been interesting but I've got other things that need done like re-vamping the website and am much more in the mood for that. As much as I'm in the mood for work, anyway...
Realised this morning that after this week with holidays etc, we aren't working a full week for the next month :T Mr S has loads of annual leave to use before the end of July so need to plan some more time off. So will be having another look for cheap flights
What else.. looking forward to weekend of (hopefully) getting bike and trying it out, planting out lots of things into bigger pots (some new garden photos on FB today by the way). Might go to OU tutorial on Saturday, but not sure.Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -
Excellent news! Thats got to be one of the most bargainous ebay wins ever! And yay to holidays!2023: the year I get to buy a car0

Well done on the amazing ebay bargain bike.0

Gah - wish I could go and pick it up now and cycle off somewhere! I think I am being punished for skiving off the course by being hassled by *rsey academics. Mind you they'd only have hassled me later if not now.Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0

Exciting - should be able to pick the bike up tonight (as long as Mr S is agreeable to driving to the other side of town to get it)! :j :TDebt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0
