Just popping on for a quick new month money update - debt now down to £3890 with budget worked out to get down to £3000 by the end of the year. £1200 in savings, don't think I'll be adding much to that till next year now.

Just remembered I get an increment in pay on 1st January, how much I get each month depends on what % payments I decide to go for in our new pension scheme, but will end up with somewhere between £20 and £60 more per month.

All going well should be debt free by July 2012 - round about the same time I (all going well) finish my degree - bit back to front, that, students are supposed to end up in debt!

Realised that once debts are paid off I will have (after bills and food and flute lessons) about £700 'spare' per month  There will be some serious saving going on then I think...
Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012.

  • Well done on calculating all that :) serious saving indeed. :)
Total debt 26/4/18 <£1925 we were getting there.
Total debt as of 28/4/19 £7867.38:eek:
    minus 112.06 = £7755.32:money:

OK, so I noticed at the weekend that the interest-free period on my overdraft had ended a few months ago, so being charged silly amounts on it (interest plus charges). Bit painful to do but I have just practically emptied my savings to pay it off - makes sense really as interest on overdraft was more than I earn on savings.

So, as per updated sig.. Debt at 16.12.09 was £10,362.38, now £2,939.16. So I've met my target to get below £3k by the end of the year (and there will be another £320 to come off next month towards the two remaining debts). Assorted re-budgeting and saving plans ahead!

  • Yay to getting below £3k early!

    :)

Bah to overdraft interest and well done on paying it off with savings - gives Red a gentle hug - that would have hurt me alot! Looking forward to the new budgeting/savings plans afoot!

:) morning, only barely but morning!

Thanks :) I've come up with a budget that is tight but not totally impossible, which means I could have my debts paid off by the end of March  After that I would have about £650 'spare' per month after basic costs, and reckon that by the end of 2012 I can have £5000 in savings and have been on a couple of decent holidays too.
