2023: the year I get to buy a car
  • Bonjour! :hello: Hope everyone is well :) Had a good trip.. saw lots, ate lots, walked lots, read lots... was too hot, had an unfortunate encounter with some snails, talked French quite well but with a terrible accent, didn't go up the Eiffel Tower, tried the official 'best baguette in Paris', had slightly bizarre train journeys and came home to loads of ripe tomatoes and a very snuggly cat.

Back at work today.. 170 emails to catch up on.. sigh!

Suppose I should mention money really shouldn't I.... Mr S took 300 euros to Paris, and we spent nearly all of it.. but it was just the right amount. I bought lunch on the way and tea on the way back and paid for the bits and pieces to bring home from the supermarket (cheese and wine mostly!). Had £300 left in the bank and it's payday tomorrow, so £200 has gone to savings and £100 to overdraft. Debts are now at £4660 (will be £4340 after normal payments tomorrow) and savings £1200 :)

    Budget for next month...
    Income
    £1263
£160 (couple of weeks from second job)
£55 (friend owes me for spa day)
    £1478

    Outgoings
    Rent £350
    Phone £36.50
    Groceries £100
    Eating out £30
    Lunches £10
    Badminton £24
    Flute lessons £60
    Books/ sheet music £20
Pay for woodwind day for next year £35
    Debt 1 £160
    Debt 2 £160
    Overdraft £180
    £1165.50

    Balance £312.50

Will spend a bit extra when friend is visiting at end of the month I suspect (although I might try to take this out of eating out/ lunches budget).. it's also her birthday so need to get something for that. I also need some new undies! But whatever is left will go to savings at the end of the month.

    Looks good indeed Squizz! :T :T :T
  • Yay! It's Friday, and it's payday! And rather scarily, it's October tomorrow. But it feels like June (apart from it getting dark shortly after 7pm).

Last night, did some tootling, a bit of exam revision, half a chapter of new course, then watched Spooks from last weekend. Was just about to go to bed when I checked my email and found that my last essay was back, so obviously had to log in and check that.. relieved that I've done well enough to get an average 85% on my essays, so a '1' grade (unfortunately the exam is 50% of the overall mark.. so... yeah, no pressure....)

Woke up in the middle of the night thinking about work (doesn't take long does it!) so a bit tired today. Planning a quiet weekend apart from lots and lots of reading. Yawn.

Oh I wasn't dreaming about work, I dreamt that I was in a car crash! And then I woke up and thought about stupid stupid work things.

Glad I didn't mention the 'thing' that happened in Spooks then, if you've not seen it.. (it was a "noooo, not...." moment )
