  • I see you there Hypno, checking up on the lunch thing ;)

Mm, just went to ask someone in my office about a query I'd had and came back with very sticky gingerbread cake :D

2023: the year I get to buy a car
  • Morning :) What a lovely weekend... Saturday, my new course website opened, so spent most of the morning saying hello on the forum there, and panicking slightly over the assignments now I know what they are (it'll be fine once I've actually read the stuff, I'm sure, but there is a LOT of writing in this course!).. Mr S proofread my essay for me, then I made a few final adjustments and submitted it - so nearly finished with current course apart from the () exam!

The afternoon was mostly musical - got new strings for my violin so managed to put those on and have a little go, then two hours of fluting with a brief break to stick some stew on for tea... :D

Sunday, we headed off to the farm.. little bit nervous as it's the first time we'd been.. got there to find only two other people there (two of the organisers), but soon got stuck in to digging up potatoes while one woman made a fire and cooked some of said potatoes for lunch :) Had a wander round the edges of the field - picked a few blackberries, saw the badger sett and a big owl! Then after lunch the woman who looks after the beehives asked if we wanted to see them and help out, so we got all kitted up in the suits and went to see bees! Little bit alarming when they first all came out but they are utterly fascinating.. I puffed smoke at them, the bee lady did all her checks, and Mr S helped lift out 20lbs of honey!! :D One other person turned up and had been there for five minutes when a bee took a liking to her head, so I now know the best way to remove a bee from hair! Then it started pouring with rain so we decamped to the portacabin for tea.. had a quick dash to save soggy potato sacks, then off home.

Dyed my hair, phoned parents (who are now, just about, talking to each other), had fish and chips for tea (rather an excess of potatoes eaten yesterday!).. sorted out stuff for today - Mr S to pick up London train tickets, and we're going to the theatre tonight :D

Three days of work left then Paris.. talking of which... still need to get Euros - offered to transfer some money into Mr S's account so he can collect them, but he said since I'd paid for the apartment then he'd pay for the spending money.. I mentioned the boiler, but he considers house repairs 'his' thing (I suppose it is his house!) so we came to an agreement that he'd cover the amount we've budgeted for, and if we need extra when we're there, then I'll pay for that. So I may be slightly better off this month than I thought!

That sounds fantastic! What a great weekend! And an even fabulous-er one to come in Paris!

Thats good of Mr Squizz to be so logical about the money - he's right, absolutely. Tho if you decide to get debt free and join him on the mortgage, you've got a whole other world opening up :rotfl:

What happens to the honey, btw?

    Exciting times, Squizzy :j:j:j

  • I doubt I'll be on the mortgage for this house, maybe once we move on somewhere else. At least if I'm debt free that's a big chunk of extra money that can be used for other things (like broken stuff :rotfl:).

The bee lady is sorting out the honey over the next few days and it'll be on sale at the AGM on Wednesday. I can't go as I've got a flute lesson, but hoping Mr S will go and get some!

  • Ooh how exciting.. was just going to do a little post about my budget for this month, popped onto online banking and discovered that second job have paid me for the three weeks I did in August!! :T Got just over £400 in there now... so.. think I might see what I spend in Paris, if anything, then split up what is left between debt and savings.

Off out for early tea with a 2 for 1 voucher, then to the theatre for a very long bit of Shakespeare.. should be good though :)

  • YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWN! Theatre was good, but didn't get home till 11 and had to wind down a bit before bed.. so rather sleepy this morning.

Hopefully a quiet day at work, should really pack tonight, do some flute practice and make a start on some revision - I think some OU books are going to have to come on holiday with me!

Which play was it, Squizz? I'm glad I'm not the only one who needs to wind down when getting in at 11pm!
