mobiles.co.uk - postal cash back change of address
Options
Was doing a bit of research and notced that our pals at mobiles.co.uk have been busy enhancing their procedures again.
Postal claims can still be made but now it's to a POBox number:
Mobiles.co.uk
PO Box 377
Southampton
SO30 2PY
Lynsey is the postal expert but does this change not frustrate the 'postal signed for' route?
I am not claiming any time soon (and more fine tuning could well take place in the meantime) but, as we all know, planning is everything.
Appreciate a steer guys.
cheers

Send it to the address in your original t&c.0

Do as mj says, send it to the address as per your original T&C's. Never change addresses unless you are notified in writing.
If the original address has been changed, there will be a diversion in place.

Honestly! I used a metaphor in another post relating to soapy eels. If you covered said eel in a polytetrafluoroethene base coat, it doesn't come close!
Thanks guys.
I must admit that I struggle with the concept of what constitutes T&Cs. My T&C's are the same as yours Lynsey. They cross refer to 'criteria made available to you at' (and there was a link). I printed off all the detail the links provided at the time and that's what I have followed.
The T&C's are substantially the same now BUT the links take you to a postal POBox (should you chose the postal option).
If the link detail applicable at the time you took out your contract governs your future action is it not a de facto extension of their T&Cs?
Incidentally, you can send 'signed for' mail to a 'PO Box' and it must be collected within seven days. It can be refused but then you have them by the proverbials, I would have thought.
Appreciate your sharing any thoughts.

The Royal Mail web site has the following gem re PO BoxesYou'll need to collect your mail regularly. If you don't collect it for a month we may contact you. If you don't collect it for three consecutive months without getting in touch with us beforehand, we may cancel your box.
Recorded Signed For™ items need to be collected within seven days, and Special Delivery™ mail within three weeks, otherwise we'll return them to the sender.
Now, on the face of it, for those who took out contracts recently and the t&c address at the time was the PO Box - I am not now referring to those who took out contracts where a different address was in force - this is a potentially good thing, or is it?
Royal Mail say they will send back any recorded delivery items if not collected within 7 days. By default, therefore, if you don't get it returned within 10 days, mobiles.co.uk have taken delivery.
Unless, of course, the Post Office have mislaid it!
But at least you know that there probably won't be any signatures for your tracking number in either case.0 -
My first claim is in January and I was just going to email them as they say they send confirmation - has anyone had any experience of this?:beer:0

Use the search facility on this forum. There is a wealth of experience in previous threads that is available already, if you really want to know.
Whatever you do, though, read again the t&c on cashbacks and if you go email, then ensure that you get the acknowledgement email back.0 -

not quite
RD items are retained for 7 days
so its time to 1st delivery
retained for 7 days(which is the same for any RD,not just PO boxes)
then returned when the DO's get to it
with staff cuts that can be every few days or longer
regardless.a company getting the volume of mail these guys would will be getting a delivery from their PO box0 -
Thanks for that insight, custardy.
From your knowledge, when a company gets a large delivery of recorded/special delivery mail, how can they complete the tracking process so it shows up as signed for on the Royal Mail web site without signing for every item, except one by one? That must take some time.
With a Post Box, do they have to sign item by item when they pick up the mail?
Is there no difference in procedures then?
Thanks.0 -

if a person was collecting fro a PO box on a small scale then you would keep the signature items separate
these would be signed on cards or for offices with them.the new PDAs
on the PDas you can scan multiple items and get one sig
this would update on the RM site in real time
now bear in mind.at this point delivery offices have 2 types of scanning equipment
this makes it a bit complicated
they have the ye olde scanning guns that have been used in DO's for years
with these you can allocate, scan as delivered etc and create print outs for bulk deliveries
so the customer signs one copy and RM retains a copy
once 'confirmed' then all printout items would show as delivered in real time but the sigs wouldnt until sent to RM data input
I dont know if they can scan print outs or only supply copies
for offices using PDas for bulk deliveries (my old office now does)
then the items are allocated on the old guns but delivered on the PDAs
so all items are scanned at the point of delivery/collection and signed
this updates on the RM site in real time(always fun scanning 300+ items at a companies reception....)
Rm really need to pull the whole system into the 21st century
you have post office counters that dont 'talk' to RM's systems
then a hotch potch of systems in the Delivery offices
plus the 'new' PDAs are old technology and pretty flaky
the interface is clunky, the are large and have pathetic battery life0 -
Very informative, thanks.
Mobiles.co.uk are likely to be more than small scale, so reading your post you say
"for offices using PDas for bulk deliveries (my old office now does))"
then the items are allocated on the old guns but delivered on the PDAs
so all items are scanned at the point of delivery/collection and signed
this updates on the RM site in real time(always fun scanning 300+ items at a companies reception....
If their local post office uses that method, using a PO address, would that mean they needed to collect or would it be delivered to their premises? If the former, then would the local Post Office be the ones who would sign for delivery to the PO or would it be the mobiles.co.uk person who collected?0
