    Point of interest.

I rang today and learned that they have another SPECIAL.

Didn't get all the details (Was on the way out after ordering another TWO of these on behalf of the other 'arf (Presents!)) but it's a PENTAX (4mb I believe) that retails in the £200.00 bracket for about £100.00.

Worth ringing up to find out if this one is a bit too 'Strong' for the pocket.

If you do find out perhaps you could come back and start a new thread with it, if it really is such a good deal.

    Did sound good tho!

  • I see on the Jessops site that they want £40 for the BATTERY for this camera, is that a mistake? do batteries ever cost that much. If it is true is there a way round this. This looks like a lovely camera but I have just started looking for a digital and have never used one.

You can get cheaper non Panasonic batteries which seem fine. Ebay is an easy source and they are sometimes as cheap as 2 for £18 plus P&P from reliable Hong Kong sellers. Actually, you just need to keep charge in the battery that comes with it. Second one not that necessary in my view.

I think it's the perfect general purpose camera. Having such a great zoom and quality optics, as well as the selectable 'simple' mode, means that we're all much more likely to get decent pictures.

After checking a lot of places yesterday the best 512mb was from ebuyer

    http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/prod...oduct_uid=43743

I got it yesterday for £20.13 + VAT, today they seem to have increased it to £24.99.
