It's very expensive for a 3 megapixel camera.
Probably was a good camera in it's day.

I trusted the original advice here and bought the Lumix 3m pixel camera two days ago. It looks fantastic. The number of pixels is not all-important. How often do I need a huge enlargement of a whole picture? Hardly ever. Much better to have a superb lens, 12x optical zoom and other great facilities for my 6x4" prints.

Sure, Panasonic are almost certain to release 5m, 6m and soon 10m pixel cameras with a similar lens, but not at £199 in the short term, I suggest.

For the foreseeable future, there's no camera I would sooner have for £199.

    Regards
    George

I must say that I am tempted :)

I have an Olympus E-20p, which is very good but really very big to carry around for everyday use. I get the impression that this Panasonic is also pretty chunky. Any suggestions for a pocket-sized camera at about the 200 Pound mark?

    Thanks

    Hi Geoff.

It really depends on what exactly you consider to be pocket sized.

It certainly won't go in your inside pocket but I have a pocket sized Jenoptic 1.3 (Now retails for about 30quid.) and it's the same size as that but with a two inch projection on the front (the zoom lens).

It certainly isn't as large as my old Nikon or any of the smaller film-type SLRs.

    Its a little over 4" (W) x 2"(H) x 3"(D).

Hope this helps but I would wonder if they still have stock, now.

after putting off a camera purchase for months, I finally purchased this camera today.

The camera takes either SD or MMC does anyone have any views on which type is the best to get?

also have been finding some mini SD cards ???

have found this, is it any good price etc???

    Re SD vs MMC.

Essentially both will work adequately BUT SD is a considerably faster format, typically 4x faster than an MMC card. Also SD is a thicker card so in theory may be more robust.
