Thankyou all...T H March are indeed the guys in the know...Checked them out..and had them confirmed by Hatton Garden Jewellers...They are the best...forget the rest..

nadnad..ring was indeed over the limit for a student policy...tried that as well...

But no, T H March did it for £139 per year, all inclusive, regardless of flatsharing arrangements, and they even give you 30 days world wide cover...just what I need...

I would like to insure my engagement ring for loss/theft. My home insurance premium will go up from 31.51 per month to £41.76 per month if I put it on the house insurance.

Is there an independent insurer who can do it for less (ie. for £10 a month or less)

    The ring is worth £3,800.

    Thanks!

WOW! £120 for the year to insure your £3800 ring is alot.

I had my £5K ring insure with my home and contents insurance and it was only £70 for the year.

How long have you had the ring for? is it possible you could enquire the insurance with the jewellers. to insure it, you'd need your original receipt, if you've not got that, then you'll have to get it valued, and they'll issue you some kind of valuation. I think most larger Jewellers offer this service for around £25-30.

At the moment it is insured by the jeweller's it was bought from. They provided free insurance for two years (this runs out soon). So if I went back there, do you think they would be able to offer me insurance for it?

I think they will, as your just 'extending your policy'

well, there is no harm in asking anyway.

just inherited a ring worth around £8000 I am far from rich and this is worth more than everything else in my house and my car!....well I have my contents policy already and it has a £1500 limit….but it runs out next week, so I am looking for a good company that will cover this amount on a single item.

I do not want a separate cover, has anyone added an item of this amount to there policy?

The lady down the road got broken into 3 months ago and she was under insured, so she came out bad, also they were really bad at paying out….she is 68 and works in a charity shop, she was treated like a criminal

What I am saying is a policy is only good till you have to claim, no one can say they have a good deal until they need it.

Has anyone on here had a burglary and had a good company?

    Thank you,
