Thanks...called them already...
Endsleigh are great in that they do do flats, however, they won't insure the the ring cause its a bit over their limit...
Damm...is there no place out there..Surely there must be, how else is everyone insuring their rings?FatCatFares - Cheap flights for all, not just Fat Cats!0 -
how did you pay for it?
if it was on a credit card will they not insure it?
or try her parents or your parents house insurance, some companies insure student houses via the parents residence (if that makes sense!!) upto a certain value because your parents house is tecnically classed as your main residence (something to do with council tax i think)0 -
Thanks for the idea heather38. Unfortunately the plot thickens..
We are Australians over in the UK on a working holiday visa.
Our parents in OZ are pensioners with no insurance what so ever.
Paid only half of it on credit card, and apparently the policy does not cover accidental lost unless the whole amount is on the cc. To make things worst, its only for 30 days the cover.
Oh well...might just have to invest in some personal safety insurance....like a permanet vault on her finger...FatCatFares - Cheap flights for all, not just Fat Cats!0 -
Not being funny but why spend so much if all you are going to do is worry about losing it. Or having there finger cut off so someone can nick it
My engagement ring cost just over a hundred pounds. It has no insurance cover on it. Because we could afford to replace it if lost. It it is not big or showy so I have no worry that someone is going to cut my finger off for it. But I think that you find that would be very rare for someone to do that.
And personally I would rather hand the ring over and let them go with it than try and keep it. It is only a thing it can be replace I can not.
Have you been through a broker rather than directly through a insurance company. They often have access to companies and policies that you don't.
Not sure what else to suggest expect don't worry so much.

Go back to the jewellers you bought it from as they might sell insurance for the ring.

T H March specialise in jewellery insurance and insure most of the jewellery companies that can afford insurance! I know H Samual offer cheap insurance on their purchases and I think the goldsmiths chain does as well. Beware with H Samuel though as it doesn't cover you if you lose the item. Accidental damage and theft is covered though.~Laugh and the world laughs with you, weep and you weep alone.~:)

How much is the ring for? if you don't mind me asking - I got engaged when I was a student and got my ring insured on my houseshare contents policy - my ring was £1500 and I remember them saying that they could ONLY separately cover items over £1000 - I don't remember there being any limit on the value.DON'T WORRY BE HAPPY

I just got ordered an eternity ring in H Samuel & the insurance was £8.99 for 2 years cover on a £149.99 ring, not too bad. Personally I wouldn't have wanted an engagement ring that cost a fortune(mine was about £150 10 years ago), especially if I thought someone might cut my finger off for it (although mine does look more expensive than it was).0
