I phoned my bank (cooperative bank plc) on the 5th of november and applied for a chargeback on my visa electron card because i had paid £410 by this method. They put it through to there disputes department and i got a phone call today and i am getting the £410 back into my account by the end of the week. i have still lost £720 because i paid through the post office with cash through the fairpak post office card. Hope this helps someone else get some of there money back or all of it good luck!0

Hi Louise
Could you let me know how you go on about getting any cash back if you paid by cheque. I have tried at the nationwide and they have said no they cant do anything once the cheques are cleared.
They also took £80 out of my account on the 13th October.0 -

the very best of luck to everybody x
I think I seem to have been the first to get a refund from direct debit so I'm glad someone else has managed too.
Let us know how many you get back, I got 4monthly payments back.Olympic bronze challenge-started 7/1/06-total so far is £194.300 -

Hi - - - I'm going to be nosy, how many DD payments did you make & what was the value - are you getting the lot back or a token amount??
The Cooperative Bank {my bank} are still refusing to budge on this one, I'd love to know how much people have got back against what was paid.
Thanks in advance for any replies0 -
If Farepak have left you stranded this Christmas, Credit Unions would support the argument - economise, don't get into debt. If you really need to spend more than you've got, contact your local Credit Union (search via the ABCUL website to find if there is one covering your area). Credit Unions are community run savings and loans co-operatives, now getting bigger in Britain, already massive in Ireland, USA, Australia, Caribbean islands, etc. Many run Christmas Savings Clubs (useful for next year). They may be able to arrange a loan for you before Christmas (Some can arrange immediate loans, some need you to be a member for 12 weeks). If you are able to take out a loan, you'll know the interest rate is set by the Credit Union to cover the cost of the loan - starting at 12.7% APR and never going beyond 26.8% APR. And the good news is that your interest paid goes into the Credit Union for it's running costs, and not to big City shareholders. Any profit made goes out to the Credit Union savers in the form of an annual dividend (my Credit Union has paid out 2.5% on savings for the past 2 years).
All this is regulated by the Government FSA. Members' money is fully protected through the Financial Services Compensation Scheme -unlike the Farepak fiasco! Credit Unions vary, but my Credit Union charges only £1 membership fee, no loan arrangement fee, and no early repayment penalties. I think that is pretty universal.
So join us! Borrow if you must, save if you can, and join thousands of other people keeping the profits away from the big banks and, particularly, the door-step lenders and companies which target people struggling on low income like the Provi, Greenwood, Brighthouse, YES car credit, etc.
It's quite fun being a Credit Union volunteer as well, but that's another story.

I keep reading that farepak customers are going to be helped via distribution of Sainsburys vouchers direct to agents.
I did not have an agent. I used to purchase from the website, i have a farepak account number, does this make me an agent? Will i be contacted?0 -

If you have an account number that makes you an agent even if you didnt have any "customers".
You should be contacted eventually, although to date all I have recieved is an email to confirm my email was recieved, so don't hold your breath : )
If you ordered Sainsburys Vouchers you'll get some back, if not you'll be joining the queue with the rest of us.
Check back on how you paid, if it was with any debit/credit card ring your bank asap and ask them to do a CHARGEBACK on your card, everyone so far that has donethis have had all their payments either credited back or are waiting for credit.
Good Luck0 -

Hi,
I just wanted to say a big thank you to Martin for highlighting the chargeback procedure way back in October. I am an agent for Farepak and have lost just under £4000 as I am an agent for 14 other customers. I had asked my bank (Halifax) way back then if they would do the chargeback procedure and they said they couldn't help but because Martin kept saying just keep trying and I have today received a full refund of ALL monies paid back into my bank account.
I can't believe that this has actually worked and to me.. I thought my luck had totally run out.
Thanks again Martin and if anyone is reading this that hasn't tried it yet and have used a 'Visa Debit' card get contacting your bank.
Ta very much...:T :T :T :T :T :T :T :T :T :T :T0 -
Just to let you know there is some info on the unfairpak site about the meeting today.0

sandhabibi wrote:Well everybody has been saying you can only get refunds if paid on credit card or by debit card, I still tryed with my bank and was successful. This will alter what I get from administrators but at least can go cheer up my customers today and not have long wait for a percentage.
Hi! Can I just ask how you got money back from your bank? How did you pay if not by credit card or debit card? Just want to know to see if any point of me trying.I have asked Nat west who said that I wouldn`t be able to get anything back as I paid by cash and customers cheques, but you have given me a new ray of hope.thanks Kay:T0
