Is it possible that the companies to which you spend the vouchers with be liable in anyway...? Just a thought!

We contacted the individual companies (e.g. M&S, Debenhams) and they told us that Farepak have placed no orders with them this year for vouchers. So they had no intention of fulfilling orders, and while the companies were sympathetic nothing they can do..........

A friend of the family has been an agent for Farepak for years and has built up quite a large number of customers, she had orders for around £15000 many of which were from people she worked with and their families.

She has just been notified by one of her work mates that they intend to take HER to small claims court to get the money they paid to her as Farepaks agent back. Can they do this? She paid all money she was supposed to directly to Farepak and recently paid one of the final payments of over £5000 to them. Her work mates argument is that he had a contract with her not Farepak so it's her responsibility to make sure he either gets a refund or the items he has paid for.

Our friend has lost not only her own money but the commission she should have earned as well, so it's not as though she's sitting pretty in all this.

I know the Watchdog team well - actually they take rather a long time to put their features together - to do it in a few days is rare - its a very seriously researched programem - so I suspect they'll cover it soon.

Remember it is in the News domain at the moment too - so it is being covered elsehwere.

Maybe we should all write to the main Director at his home address:-

Stevan Lloyd Fowler, of Tower House, Kirklees Hall, Clifton, Brighouse

Found this under the Halifax today article.
Here's one address I doubt that anybody will be there though, they will probably be in some hot foreign country spending our cash!
  • I'm really sorry to hear about all this, we were looking into starting with Park hampers but after we had a phone call from the brother in law tonight saying they'd lost £500 to this shower of s**t Farepak, has put us right off the idea.

It's about time strict rules and laws were brought in to govern these cowboys who think they can just ride rough shod over people.

I've known of company directors go bankrupt then start up again through a family member, then the ex director works in the company as an employee. It's about time this was stopped now.

For them to take money when they knew they were in trouble from the start was just wrong. No doubt the directors of the company will sleep soundly in their beds tonight, only thing they'll have to worry about is where their next pair of designer shoes will come from. May they rot in hell.

If it isn't bad enough with banks robbing you blind with charges, Farepak pull a stunt like this.

Our thought's go with you all and we hope you get some sort of satisfaction.
  • I can't believe there is no appeal fund. I emailed Martins team and got a mail back with a link to his post and no reference to my suggestion so I don't think he can be putting forward any ideas for one.

I know appeals abroad are usually for people with no homes or food but we are really quick to set them up and it would be so nice to be able to help the people hurt by this here.
