Hi Gally,
Saw it live and about every 90 seconds since. Watson is a commentator on ESPN so they've been giving it big licks all day. We'll be back @ Bellagio tomorrow so we'll see how you get on! I just need to find that $10k to make Froggy's bet...
Cheers,

Morning TYO,
If only ten grand bundles were that easy to come by, we'd all have been mortgage free many a moon ago! Still regretting only coming for the 2 weeks but having a grand time.

Morning All,
All progress lost. Back up again at 2am this morning. It's a bad start when I get up before the golf has even started! Kaymer is my current pick but I'd like to see big Darren Clarke or Jiminez win. Had our first full day of gambling yesterday at Mandalay Bay, Luxor, Excalibur, Monte Carlo, MGM Grand and Tropicana. Turned $250 into $155. No proper wins as yet. My biggest slot machine win ever has been $187 from a fifty cent bet so the dream would be to beat that. Biggest win thus far has been $25 but we've had a good few tens and fifteens to keep the shopping fund ticking over.
As a typical Brit on holiday, I've gone and managed to burn myself a wee bit so I'll need to limit my sunning by the pool today. It's to be a balmy 104 today so perfectly decent (particularly when watching the driving rain in that England on the telly). We're planning on venturing up the road to Venetian, Palazzo, Wynn, Encore, TI and about half a dozen shopping malls. Expecting it to be a bit busier today with it being the weekend. The city has been bereft of the usual numbers in the last couple of days.
Had a wee bit of a bonus with Moyra's marking money coming through so we're definitely going to have a good crack at getting ourselves debt free by the end of September...either that or a big gambling assault nearer the end of the trip!
Cheers,
Billy

Hi Billy :hello:
I've not been on here for a couple of week so lots to catch up on
Glad to see you've arrived safely and are getting right into the swing of it. I can see you've mentioned the lovely british weather, it's been wild here, I was out in the car earlier and only needed to do a couple of miles on local roads and I had the wipers on their fastest speed and they still weren't making much of an impression, the roads felt dangerous actually and I was glad when I parked up.
Apologies for bringing up old news but I was pondering why Moyra's parents even told her about the PPI refund, they must have known there might be an expectancy that they should repay it to you and that they would have to explain about the other debt they hadn't mentioned as to why they couldn't give you the money. I sincerley hope for all your sakes that they weren't hoping you'd press them further about having other debts?
I like Moyra's $5 plan and the 'winnings' going into a shopping fund, I can see how it would work and make things more guilt free :rotfl:
I know you are with two other family members (oops, can't remember who) so wishing you a fab time. I'm going away for a few days myself next week so catch up then

Hi ATT,
We had that a couple of times before we left. I could make my peace with the continental stylee rain if we married it with some sort of guaranteed summer. I'm still all for moving out of Britain but Moyra won't entertain the idea unfortunately. I'll keep on the case... Needless to say, it's a comfortable 105 here and we've yet to see a cloud in the sky! Much more like it.
Moyra's mum actually told me. I don't think she gave it any thought that it might not be as wonderful news for us as it clearly is for them. We had wondered why they seemed to be struggling with the payments back to us (since the big loan they've paid back £300 but also borrowed £200 due to some budgeting errors) and an additional card would explain a lot. I've no idea how they kept their heads above water when they had the other credit cards on the go as their card repayments must have totalled £700 a month just to hit the minimum payment on the three (assuming three is the total number). Hopefully the PPI thing clears their feet and they can start to relax a wee bit. It's just a wee bit galling at the moment as we've paid off £9k of their debt since February and we're sitting with £5k still to pay off over the next couple of months which has meant us curtailing our gambling budget by about $2,000.
The winnings are going pretty well. We had a decent day at the casinos yesterday so Moyra's various assaults on abercrombie, Armani, urban outfitters, gap, sketchers and the Bellagio shoppe are shaping up nicely. I haven't told her yet that I've budgeted an extra $700 for her shopping as I hadn't factored in her marking to our SOA so that will go down very well come the end of the trip. The other two (Moyra's auntie and little sister) are having a ball. They had their first shot at gambling yesterday with some of the free money the casinos so very kindly give out and they're planning on visitingthe pawn stars today I believe.
I'm afraid if it took any kind of special effort to hit the Internet, I'd probably leave updates until we got back. The beauty of the iPad and free wifi in the hotel means I can play away in the early mornings without waking Moyra up with the telly or a light. The whole intention of the iPad was for web browsing at home and some in flight entertainment but it's doing a grand job over here as well.
Cheers,

Morning All,
Really busy, good and profitable (nearly) day yesterday. The four of us went up to caesars palace, the forum shops, Treasure island, the fashion show mall, encore, Wynn, palazzo and casino royale during the afternoon. Moyra's auntie and wee sister picked up their first lots of free play from TI (turned their $20 free play into $30 cash) and Encore (turned their $20 free play into $40 cash). Needless to say, they're hooked now. They lost their $50 free play at casino royale which 99% of people do (Moyra won $100 on that promotion in our first visit when $100 was a big deal to us) but there's a load of free sign up things for them to get yet. I worked it out to be around $150 each if we get them round everywhere so we'll see how we go. They won on a lot of machines we've never fancied - White orchid, vampire saga, dragons reign and pharaohs fortune x 2 and ended up around $90 on the day.
We were tutoring rather than gambling for the most part of the day and gambling wasn't the best idea for me as the drinks service in Encore and Wynn was phenomenal. I wandered into the Wynn with three beers in each hand and wandered a bit more unsteadily out half an hour later. The gourmet delight that is Wendy's three quarter pound triple burger put me back on an even keel (fast food in Yankeeland is so much better than at home but a few weeks a year of this type of pigging out is plenty - we do have visits to PF Changs, cheesecake factory and the spice Market and rio buffets planned although the few healthy options that they have at mcdonalds (grilled chicken wraps and the like) are perfectly fine for me. We generally eat once a day whilst we're on holiday and end up losing a good bit of weight (another black mark against Scotland!) despite Moyra's predilection for crisps and junior mints and my ice cream efforts!
After dinner, we hit the casinos ourselves. Lost badly in MGM grand at my rich uncle, Texas tea, super cherry, shop till you drop and Hitchcock theatre - left with $0. Popped over the Excalibur (I do think this might still be my favourite casino to play in). Started badly with us losing $20 each but we ended up doing well on pick your fortune, dirty dancing (eventually), lucky larry's lobstermania, Texas tea, kenny rogers' the gambler, all that glitters and goldfish 1 - ended up leaving with $135 toward the shopping fund. Lost then won at the tropicana with super money storm and little green men paying out $30 between them. Moyra had earlier won on wizard of Oz so we ended up putting $190 into the fund - now standing at $410. Unfortunately, some of us didn't fare so well - Gally's $5 bet on red saw 0 hit so it'll be a bullseye-esque this is what you could have won moment rather than a tangible piece of tat!! Still trying to source the $10k for ol' Froggy's shot but there's no end of applicable tat for everyone's favourite garlic enfused MSE...
Plan today is to finish watching the golf (look how well my Kaymer tip came through by the way!!) pop down to the pool for a bit, finish reading the first crappy book Moyra packed for me (something about an arson loving rapist which is written about as well as a primary school essay), get some ice cream (haven't had any yet!) from stone cold creamery, pop up to Cosmo (new for us and a good sign up offer to boot!), Bellagio and planet hollywood for our gambling with a view to catching a few fountain shows tonight before and after dinner. The world series of poker main event is on at the Rio but I doubt we'll get over there before midweek so we'll miss that unfortunately.
Hope everyone is having a grand olde time.
Cheers,
