Evening all! firstly, happy belated birthday Keiss - I'm sooooo sorry that I didn't send you muchos wishes yesterday.

Secondly - the heating and hot water is fixed!!! :j:j Guy came this afternoon, the circulator had seized (that was the thing in the airing cupboard that was smelling of burning), so he replaced that and two valves that had corroded a bit. Cost £270 (incl VAT) so wasn't exactly cheap but I'm darn sure it was cheaper than BG who wanted £189 to step over the doormat. The guy was really nice too - put down dustsheets so he didn't get dirt on the carpert, was really polite and I'd deff reccommend them. :) Was a bit worried that one radiator wasn't heating (tried bleeding it etc etc) but at last it seems to be warming up - must have been the last one on the circuit.

Thirdly - I'm on target for a NSD. Have been a bit tempted by Amazon's Black Friday promos (don't know why everyone is moaning - they are just a bit of fun!) but resisted a 37" TV for £249 (which would have been a good deal from £449 but didn't NEED it), and a set of Nigella books for £15 (RRP about £80)....will update later :)

Thanks all for your kind thoughts/words about my chilly weekend x

  • HAPPY BELEATED BIRTHDAY KEISS!! Sorry it's late but hope you had a good day!

Spendy weekend, somehow despite doing 13 hour days in my mum's shop i managed to spend both days running errands for her on the Saturday & getting some curtains for my dad on the Sunday (somehow i can never ask my parents to pay me back, even if it means i lose an NSD )

Spendy today on a new carpet for the front room, am soooo pleased with it, front room is really cosy now, all my furniture is back where it belongs & no more DIY until after xmas... yay :j

Now i must stop reading the forum & get on with my presentation for my job interview on Thursday, or i will have no chance (please slap me if you see me back on here tonight!!)

Many happy (if rather belated) birthday wishes to Keiss :)

    As for NSDs from me....

Yesterday was, so that's #12 clocked up :T

My only spend was the £5 entry fee for the race, which is from my excluded 'get fit' budget - and was put aside on Saturday (which was a spend day) anyway :)
Unfortunately the run (in aid of Help for Her0es) clashed with a couple of 'big' races within the catchment area, so there were only 24 of us turned up. But there was also a 1 mile fun run for kiddies, and they still managed to raise a total of £160 :T
The course was a 'tad' hilly (which I'd expected from the little I knew of the area), and included a lap of a very soggy football pitch - was soooooo pleased I had spare socks to put on with the shoes I was going to be driving home in (can't drive in my running shoes) - plus a stony path with water trickling down it. But I was really pleased with my time as I completed it in 52:30 - and last months 5 mile (which was all road and flat) took me 56:05.

The only  part of the day was when I was making tea. I was cooking a pie in the combi (with the metal baking accessory on the turntable as per directions in the book), when the turntable decided to shatter - so I now have 5 large chunks of glass instead of a rotating turntable  Only bought it on 1st September !!!!

    Today wasn't an NSD :(

Had a £6 off a £40 spend at Mr T, which is valid up to (and incl) this next Sunday. Having built up a shopping list on their site (since last Friday - mainly stocking up on long-life products for next year) I spotted a number of offers I could make good use of were due to finish today/tomorrow, so decided I had to go for it after work today.

When leaving work I picked up a pack of Cinammon & Raisin bagels (Whoopsied to 45p), 2 packs of Creamy Peppercorn Kievs (£1.99 each but on BOGOF, reduced to 49p/pack - so effectively 50% off), an individual crustless quiche for 29p (lunch tomorrow with salad), and 2x1pt organic full fat milk (9p each) which I'll be using to make semolina and/or rice pudding (prefer these made with full-fat milk)

Came home, found the Arg0s receipt for my combi-oven, checked stocks of said item on-line, and not currently available within a really easy distance of home :( (May need to travel a bit further afield for that tomorrow night - I'm assuming I can get an item replaced in a different store to where it was originally bought?)

Then I headed out to Mr T, where I think I did really well. My on-line list (which I printed to take with me) came to just under £36, so I knew I needed to find £4+ of other things. Also had a voucher for 25 extra points if I spent £1+ on fresh veg, so that was some of it taken up (ended up with Whoopsied beansprouts, Whoopsied organic green beans, and a cauliflower - total £1.54). I then swapped out a few 'non offer' items for offers I hadn't spotted on line, and got to the till in the confidence my total was just over £40. But once scanned I was asked for just under £38 !!! Could have understood a full £ (down to adding up while walking round - I've been known to miscalcute a column like that before), but it was about £2.30 out..... So I grabbed a bag of crisps out of my shopping (3 for £3) and asked her to add on another 3 of those - saying I'd go and grab after paying - which she did whilst looking puzzled. But her expression cleared when I produced my £6 off voucher ;) On checking my receipt against my list it appears that I did carry one too many on my £ column at one point, but a couple of items on '3 for 2, cheapest free' (that had calculated that way on-line) had deducted one of each price bracket at the till (so 19p difference there), and I'd picked up 10 packs of the Value Sponge Scourers (12p/pack - that'll do me all of next year), but she'd somehow managed to only charge for 1 - so that was the other £1.08 discrepancy. So my bill was just under £41 after £11.30 of multi-saves, and then I got a further £6 off :D
