Ohhh, that's not good as I suspect this boiler (the HW/CH one...not me :rotfl:) is old by BG standards. These houses were built about 15yrs ago so it's quite possible this is the original boiler.
There is a company my mum uses locally but she's not overly impressed with them (thinks they are quite expensive) but there's a couple of numbers in the phone book I'll call tomorrow - on the gassafe register and corgi registered too.(been watching those same watchdog programmes too!)
Kerri - my boiler is also about 15yrs old. I have a BG homecare thingy and every year the guy checks it he says that we really need a new boiler. This is just their way of scaring you into shelling out about £2k for a new one. I always ask if parts are still being made for my boiler and if they say yes, then I tell them to get $tuffed! As long as there are the proper parts and a registered CORGI man to fit them, then a boiler can be repaired. My uncle has been doing this for years and only replaced his boiler last year - it was 25 yrs old!
I know it's really worrying when your CH/ boiler goes awry and that's when you panic yourself into very expensive repairs. I know you're a sensible lass though so good luck and let us know how it goes. HTH

Good morning everyone!
Well I made it no 12 yesterday as I didnt spend another thing apart from my hairdo, for which I'd already put money aside. I'm delighted to report that I am now sporting "champagne" highlights and caramel lowlights so if I'm desparate I can eat myself LOL!Kerri - my boiler is also about 15yrs old. Pleased to report yesterday was NSD no 11 :j...going to be tight to get the last 7 days, with only 9 days left!! Must be judicious with my (no more than 2!) spending days this week.
Today was spendy: DH did some milk, marg & cereal buying, as well as getting an axe to cut up the trees we felled earlier in the year, he needed a long-handled one. We had a lovely lunch out...splashed out on a really nice bottle of red wine and brought the last of it home so DH can have some once he has depositred DS1 and his girlfriend to their respective homes. - no sign of a wine smiley...but you get the idea
Was going to do some shopping in town tomorrow, but might just try and have an NSD instead as we have plenty of food in the house atm. Will write the cheque for tomorrow tonight...if that makes sense!!
Have a great evening everyone.

Hello hello hello, I spy another sneaky little NSD lurking around - into the bag with you, pronto! You're nicked! That makes 7 in total now.
Just had a thought for next month's big get together - how about celebrating the winter solstice and Christmas all in one on the 21st? We could have dodgy Christmas music, (Slade anyone?) sing Rudolph the red nose reindeer, exchange (virtual) gifts and generally let our pink-champagne-and-toffee-highlighted hair down (makes me wonder, when I read some of the hair dye descriptions, whether we ought to be wearing it or eating it) - unless you're a blonde floozy or a red devil or a chestnut cracker or silver and proud of it, in which case we could have a whole rainbow of heads doing the dodgy head banging thing to "I wish it could be Christmas every day" - get the picture? I'm sure we could find a friendly bartender, and Igor is already wrestling with the hog roast (Igor, you are supposed to wait till it's dead before shoving a pole up its....oh, never mind, whatever floats your boat...)
Anyway, back to St Andrew's day - over to you, jinty, for ideas of how it should be done. Then we'll totally ignore that and do the NSD gang thing anyway, which usually involves handcuffs, feaher dusters and buckets of alcohol. One life - your life - live it!0 -
Happy half century, Keiss! Pass the champers, somebody! One life - your life - live it!0

After a couple of days of spends, i'm pleased to say that i today managed NSD number 13!Grocery Challenge for October: £135/£200
NSD Challenge: October 0/140 -
Thanks Jinty, Keiss, Looloo and everyone else for your tips (and sympathy) re; the boiler. I've got a couple of local numbers so gonna give them a call tomorrow and hopefully someone can come out. I'm sure that its either something really silly and simple, or just a part that has gone given that the boiler itself is firing up as it should - did check the tank upstairs earlier and that seems quite low, but I don't really know what level its supposed to be
Katenut - sorry to hear your TV has gone kaput - seems to be the time of year for things packing up. Hopefully you can get it fixed without it costing an arm and a leg.
Well, on the NSD front I can say that I've clocked up another one - mainly cos I haven't been out the house today. So that's me up to 12 NSD :j two more to target and hopefully I can clock up a few more as well - though I've already got a busy weekend ahead planned so we shall see. This month does seem to have worked out more expensive than I had budgeted for but hopefully with a bit of creative use of vouchers and shopping I'll manage to sort xmas presents witout too much stress. I did dig out the xmas cards earlier, I knew I'd bought some in the sales but wasn't sure if I'd need more - evidently I purchased 4 boxes, and have nearly another 2 full ones (OH announced at the last min he needed some last year ) so that's 6 boxes.....think that should cover it :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:I have some red ribbon (prob need some more) and a couple of red gift bags so have decided this year's colours are going to be red and silver.Feb 2015 NSD Challenge 8/12JAN NSD 11/16
