To be honest I made it low enough to make it achievable on my 1st month return. I carry on and hope for another 4 this month
Have a great week end

Hello lovely NSD gang:A
Updated all your totals now and caught up with all today's posts - as you can see from above - sorry about all the posts:o:o
Chris - you're right, there are lots of people suffering from the blues at the moment, it must be the time of year:( Let's hope we all feel better soon, but your lovely chilled smiley certainly did cheer me up - thanks :A
Will be back tomorrow to catch up with you all again.
Take care everyone

Good morning all!
Early bird this morning as I still have a niggly dry cough leftover from my cold so I had to get up and get a cuppa!
Thanks for the lovely roundup Spoon.
I do think you're right about folks getting the "blues" around this time of year.I've been there myself. Christmas is just round the corner and sometimes the additional pressure can just get you down. There's a lot to think about and if you're already snowed under it can feel totally overwhelming!
Today is the big hairdo, but it wont be as costly as usual. I'm going to my hairdresser's house to have it done, so it will be a fraction of salon prices.:money: Going for cut, highlights, lowlights, underlights, headlights whatever lights she wants to cover up my grey:rotfl::rotfl:
OH is home for the weekend from the big City. He's knackered, so we're having a lovely quiet night tonight, Strictly and Chinese - bliss!
Going for a NSD today BUT I may go to Boots to get the Fearn€ Cott0n box for my DIL ( its the offer of the week and I quite fancy it myself..........no Jinty, resist!)
Have a lovely day everyone:)
you will always be rich enough to be generous.0 -

But, of course, it does help that I live alone now. So if I run out of fresh milk 2 days before my next planned spend day I can opt to use (slightly OOD) UHT or (slightly OOD) dried milk, and there's no-one to give me a hard time about it...... and if I decide to have pasta with my burger/pie/fish fingers/kiev/sausages 'cos I've run out of spuds/chips, then that's not an issue for anyone else eitherCheryl0 -

Good luck with sorting it, Kerri
I did think about that, but I am sceptical it is that due to the sudden and alarming bang the boiler made before this happened - previous to that ,everything was fine. Three out of our four upstairs radiators were on, the one in our bedroom wasn't (tried bleeding that but it was fine) and none downstairs. Plus a very strage 'burning' type smell in the airing cupboard where the heating pump is  The boiler will fire up but within min or even seconds will go into lockdown modeIt does it with both the heating and hot water - would air in the system affect the hot water too? how would I bleed the system? (know how to bleed the radiators but not the system itself as we've previously had electric heating before moving here). Would air in the system happen so suddenly?

Not sure how good I am at explaining in type, but this is my understanding of a c/h system
There's water passing around the system, which passes through the boiler to be heated and then circulates around the rest of the house. This involves it passing through the radiators, having travelled through pipes to get to them and passing out again via pipes. There are also pipes around the water tank to heat that up, and they're all part of one circuit with a directional valve that basically tells the water whether it's wanted around the tank or the radiators only, or both (depending on what your controls and thermostats are telling it). If air accumulates inside one section of the system it can then cause an air bubble to get caught up in the pipes, and it will travel the length and breadth of the system - with the boiler in particual not liking having to try and heat air instead of water (a bit like having your hob on under an empty pressure cooker).
In order to bleed my system fully I turn the system to the 'off' position at the control (so the pump won't kick in and push water through at force), and then go round every radiator in the house bleeding them one by one. There is (I'm told) an official order to do them in according to distance from boiler/pump, but I haven't a clue what it isSo having worked around the house once, and if I found air anywhere, I'll then go around again to be sure I've not moved any. At my last house (haven't checked the unit here, but it looks very similar) there was also a bleed point on the pump unit - don't know where your pump will be, but at both my last house and here it's in the airing cupboard.
Air normally build up in a radiator over time, but it doesn't cause any harm there other than having a cold(er) room. It's once it starts moving around the pipes (and specifically into the boiler) it can cause problems.Cheryl0 -
