Kids are off school monday and tuesday so prob end up spending on them two. But i might be lucky and get away with it.
  • Today was NSD 10, lunch at OH's folks so my purse stayed at home.
  • 3rd NSD for me. Hoping to double it by the end of next week. Enjoy what's left of your weekend.
  • I'm still stuck on number 4 :( Spendy weekend!! Did my food shop and started xmas shopping! I also treated myself to a new duvet and pillows from mr T which I put some vouchers towards and it looks so snuggly cant wait to go to bed!! lol!! Have to fit in round the cats who seem to like it too!!!! :)

Am hoping for a couple this week! Got a feeling this months target is going to be hard!!! Ahhh!!

    NSD #9 today :T

The only thing I spent on was petrol - and the money for that was put to one side last Wednesday ;) I actually had enough fuel to get to my race and back, but not sure what was left would have gotten me out again this week (could tell by car behaviour the tank was getting low during the last couple of miles to my local Mr T where I was heading to fill up)

    As for the race.....

I'm pleased to be able to report I managed to complete the course, and gained a medal to add to the T-shirt from last months race 1biggrin.gif

Official time was 1:07:00, which I was pleased with. And position 151 of 179.

My HRM said 1:06:57 so close enough, and I've done all my calcs based on that....

Average speed for the (almost totally) flat 'all road' 5 mile race last month was 5.35mph

Todays course was part road/part off road (at least 50% on trails, despite it being listed as a 'road race'), and had a number of hills which some people were complaining about quite strongly (can only assume 'cos the roads in the area are all pretty flat, so we only got the hills due to being taken off road). But I'm used to both off road and hills because of where I live, so neither was a problem for me once I'd got over the surprise 1wink.gif
Average speed was 5.31mph - so a longer distance (extra 1.2 miles), a considerably more hilly course, and only a marginally slower average speed.... well impressed with myself as I was struggling from just after the 4 mile point 1biggrin.gif

Leg doesn't feel as bad today either, so I'm going to see how it does over the next couple of days before deciding whether to do the 'Help Our Heroes' 5 mile race next Sunday (especially given I currently have a week to recover, but if I do the one next w/end I'll then have to manage 2 full days at work before I get a morning off to rest it up).

I stopped for the prize presentation (more to give my legs time to calm down before the 25 mile drive home than anything), and ended up walking away with one !!!

They called out all the names for the advertised prizes, but a fair percentage of those people hadn't stayed back. So they then started to look for 'other reasons' to give the prizes away, and one was 'has anyone achieved a Personal Best today?'

There were a number of sniggers from around me, as the runners in my vicinity had all been previously saying they'd been at least a couple of minutes down on their 10km times due to the hills - and then a look of shock from them when I put my hand up. But there were smiles all round when I mentioned that it would have been a PB even if I'd walked it, due to it being my first 10km - and the organisers declared that meant I definitely deserved a prize :D

I now have a 1 litre bottle of wine to pass to the local primary school in the hope they can use it as a prize at their Christmas Fayre.

  • well done cheryl - soounds like you had a good day today. I miss exercise, i have been so lazy recently...

anyway No 3 nsd for me today and 3 in a row too. I will spend tomorrow as i have to put petrol in car and get a few bits of food shopping in.

Still quite happy with my start!!! heres to the rest of the month - its weird but you really think about what you spend on - you could get quite competitive with this .....

    Good morning everyone!

Well, it's rather frosty this morning here, OH had to scrape the car today!
Still streaming with the cold, it's one of those very annoying head colds:mad:

Congratulations Cheryl - that was a good result all round yesterday, well done! ( did you hear us cheering you on?):T
Beanie & Donna - hope you get some relief from your back problems soon.:(

Kerri, that sounds like the sort of shopping trip that happens to me from time to time - did you get the tree in the end?

Twistedhazel- working in retail must be very difficult in the current economic climate, just shows how the "knock on effect" really does effect peoples lives. I hope things improve for you:)

Today I need to get paracetemol as I've run out, but I'm classing this as an essential spend in view of the cold. I dont buy any "cold remedies" as I think they're overpriced, over-marketed hype (Ooh where did that wee rant come from?) So that will cost me @ 50p for the generic ones.

I also need to go to the library as I've a pile of books to return and also some reservations to pick up, including the new Kate Atkinson book which I'm really looking forward to reading. I love my library;)
After that I will be retiring to the sofa!;)

    Have a lovely day everyone:)

you will always be rich enough to be generous.

    Thanks :)

My little bro has posted on my F/book page that my time is the equivalent of a 42 year-old male (him) completing the course in 57:34.

He's supposed to be in training for our head-to-head (half-marathon next June - he's done half's and even a full one before, but not since 'gaining' a family so probably not for at least 7 years now), but has admitted that at the moment it's restricted to the stairs at work. Mind, he seems to be doing that at some serious speed (7 floors - 160 steps - in 46 seconds )

Never doubted for one moment that you wouldn't be :D

And the best news is that my 'gammy' leg actually seems OK this morning - I could certainly have faced going to work on it :)
