I've tried to organise a few things--a couple of bank holiday bbqs, fireworks, etc--but no-one has bothered to take it up :( The first one was individual groups of neighbours sitting outside & not really mixing with others, the second was us & one set of neighbours who came for a drink & we sat outside, & the third was us & the immediate neighbours! Sometimes I wish we didn't live in the "affluent sowthhhh" :o I have neither the money or upper crust attitude to be bothered :rotfl:

That's a real shame - that said, in our gathering the lady who organises it says she always knows who deff won't be attending. She got her son just to put flyers into every house. There are quite a lot of families in our road, where the kids are all at the same schools so quite a lot of neighbours know each other that way - and then there were a few brave souls like us who just thought we should go and say hello :) I know what you mean about living 'daaawwwnnn sowthhh' though - I'm in Berkshire ..say no more ;) (though clearly not affluent else I wouldn't be on the DFW board :rotfl:)

Keiss, sorry to hear about the car, hope it gets sorted and not too expensive.

No NSD today, bread + few presents for kids + paper for hampers from the craft centre (1st time I ever buy something in this place - this is the MSE effect! Planning to be in France for a few days in Dec so thinking of getting some biscuits etc... to do hampers).

Reading about breadmaking, is it "worth" it counting the price of the breadmaker/ flour etc..? Curious
Thanks karom, the car is going into the garage tomorrow, fingers crossed it won't be too expensive :o

I did have a breadmaker years ago, but it broke, so started making bread by hand until I could save up for another, and I haven't looked back!!

I make four loaves at a time (my oven is a wide one (90cm/3 feet), so I can get four tins on one shelf. That does us just over a week, with everyone having sandwiches/bread for lunch every day.
We have wholemeal/seeded bread, often made with 50% white & 50% wholemeal flour. I get my flour online, straight from the mill, which works out at about just over £1 a kg, though I have just found that my "local" mill is quite a bit cheaper...might have to visit them soon! I get two loaves per kg of flour, making each loaf costing about 50p - 55p...which is pretty favourable to decent shop-bought loaves at well over £1.20 each!! Of course there is the yeast, salt and seeds in addition, but they don't add that much to the cost as I don't much per loaf.
Wow what an ending eh Keiss? I'm going to miss it now it has ended!!
Hope you get the car sorted soon & it doesn't cost too many pennies!
They do have a tendency of killing off a key member at the end of each series don't they!! Wonder how Harry is going to get out of this pickle!!
Thanks about the car. DH doesn't think it'll be too pricey...so long as the chassis isn't damaged underneath!!!!

    Mortgage-free Glee!
Jinty, hope the ceremony went well and the family/friends closeness helped.

Keiss, I have just touched flour and try to make something into the kitchen tonight (bechamel sauce). Now I have not done or attempted something like this for years! this is this board influence; had my laptop on the sideboard for following the recipe. Start slowly :)

NSD #5 today! Did the trick of scouting the freezer and came up with a meal

    Great evening to all

No 4 for me today:) Had hoped for 2 more but on Sunday I went to fireworks display which I hadn't planned to ( did enjoy it though) and yesterday Avon lady (ding dong) came round to collect her £6. (I do now have some bubble bath to soak in) Oh well only 11 more to go. Should do it as funds in account are starting to run low.

    Bye
