Well, chutney is decanted into jars - slight 'episode' where I dropped some on my finger and nearly gave myself third degree burns  It all looks like the pictures on the internet. Had to cook it in two pots as there was so much.

Jury is out about the taste of it, there was a little spare so I have put that in my sarnie for tomorrow. Tasted a bit but it's still a but warm and acidic - plus the smell of vinegar through the house doesn't help. OH isn't a happy bunny :o Hoping that the taste develops over time, I was hoping it would be a bit 'warmer' tasting but hey ho. Please keep your fingers crossed for me, this is my first time making jam and chutney and I'm beginning to think perhaps it wasn't such a good idea to use people's xmas presents as guinea pigs :(

  • Well, where did I leave you all last week...4 NSDs on Thursday evening ...hmmm, well Friday was a spendy as I had to pay my chiropodist (but I'm amazed at how much she's helped me so it was a happy spend!) Saturday was an NSD as I spent the whole day freaking out about Winterval presents but not actually putting pen to paper to help the situation (seriously, it really was a whole day lost :( I seem to panic over the slightest thing these days) then on Sunday lovely OH (my much needed calming influence) took me up town where we started our Winterval shopping which was a spendy :( but from our Winterval fund so thankfully didn't impact our pockets, and we are well within our budgets at the moment (only a few more presents to get :) ). Yesterday was a NSD as I was at work and then I got in, ate and went to bed!

And that brings us up to date to today which was another NSD :) as it followed the same routine of yesterday!

So Spoony, could you please add 3 to my NSD total? (thanks :) ) it looks like I'm on a flier this month so far but i know I have to do a big shop soon, feed the car, get the rest of the Winterval presents as well as a couple of birthday presents and other gubbins...so unless I can become very organised (unlikely!) my NSDs will slow down drastically I suspect :(
Those that matter don't mind, and those that mind don't matter :o

They do have a tendency of killing off a key member at the end of each series don't they!! Wonder how Harry is going to get out of this pickle!!
Thanks about the car. DH doesn't think it'll be too pricey...so long as the chassis isn't damaged underneath!!!!

Well i know nothing about cars so i'll just keep my fingers crossed your DH is right!!!
I do hope Harry manages to get out of his pickle, with so many of the "old" characters already gone i don't think i'd be happy if Harry went too!! :(

My fingers are crossed Kerri, hope it tastes good tomorrow when it's cooled!

Number 5 for me today, lovely tea with my friend (creamy chicken lasagne & chocolate cake) & not a penny spent :j

Hi Kerri - dont worry about your chutney, it will be fine. No chutney tastes good straight after making. It needs time to mature and in that time the acid taste will diminish and all the other flavours will come through. It usually needs about 3 months in a cool dark place to do the business and obviously it will keep for ages. It will be fine for Christmas. Well done you for having a go!:T

    Good morning all,

Well, we got through yesterday ok. Very hard for OH and family but we got there in the end. Was good to see lots of folks we hadnt seen for ages - why does it take events like that to get people together? My stepson & wife were brilliant and very supportive. They gave us each a little bag of pressies when we were leaving. DIL said they were to cheer us up at the end of a hard day - wasnt that lovely? It worked - just wee things but very thoughtful and we got new school photos of their our grandkids.

It was such a relief to get home though, there's nothing like your own house is there?

I was going to go to work today, but they've given me the week off so I'm just going to take it. OH also has this week off ( paid, thank goodness) Think we'll just have a nice relaxing day.

My wool arrived for the scarves I want to do for nieces Christmas, so I have plenty to occupy myself.
Thanks again for all your kind wishes:A

#7 for me Spoon - no money passed my hand yesterday :T

    Have a lovely day everyone:)
