Right, an update if anyone is following this...
This weekend I have worked out exactly which flats water meter I have been paying for, and it's not mine. I have taken a reading off the correct meter, but where do I stand with regards to the bills I have been paying since I moved in? I obviously don't know what the reading was on the correct meter when I moved in (although it was a new bulid so will they assume zero?). Whose fault is this, should I ask for compensation? I'm so angry about this !!!! up  The correct meter reading is actually higher than the one I've been paying  I'm going to ring them 1st thing, but not sure where I stand. Anyone been is this situation?Proud to be a MoneySaver!

When the water supply is connected up the builder would have told the water co what pipes went to what flats as the builder would have laid the pipes from the flats to the meters , i presume they have got it mixed up, as the correct reading is actually higher then you will have to pay the extra as you have used the water in question.0

But how do I know it was at zero when I moved in? The one I read wasn't. Is it worth taking this up with the buliders?

I have a 3 minute shower every other day and my children have 2 baths a week and I use the washing machine every other day but I only flush the loo when we do a number 2. I wash up when the sink is full which is about once a day and wash hands and brush teeth etc as fast as I can. I use about 1 unit per week.2008 Comping ChallengeWon so far - £3010 Needed - £230Debt free since Oct 20040

The builders should have taken a reading before you moved in, they could have possibly used some water i would ask them, but ultimately its your responsability to read the meters before you moved in.0 -

What!? I *did* read the meter that the builders had written my number on the day I moved in! Is it my responsability to then check they are competant at their job and have labelled the meters correctly!? Gezzz :mad:Proud to be a MoneySaver!

Yeah sorry m8, hopefully the builders will have a reading, otherwise the water co will have to work out your average useage and do it from that0

It's a new build with the meters already fitted so you do not get a choice.Proud to be a MoneySaver!

those prices are crazy and I thought electricity was expensive, to be honest if I was paying that for water I would defenitly have to make cutbacks on my luxuries.0
