Select 'save' and then chose a suitable location - your desktop for instance. I tend to keep the file name the same as given by Amazon but you could change it if you want. The download can take a few seconds.
I then close the dialogue box and find the icon on my desktop.
Double click on the icon, click on 'open' and choose Excel as the programme with which to open the file.
You will then find your items in an Excel spreadsheet. This method does lose the zeros from the front of ISBN's but that doesn't matter if you are not going to use the file to upload again.
There is a way to preserve the zeros but I would have to look into that again as I haven't done it for a while.
If you only get part way through and I have missed a step, let me know and I will take a closer look.

To preserve the zeros highlight the whole column, then right click on your mouse and click on 'format cells' then select 'text' and then ok, it will now allow you to have zeros at the front of numbers. I get this problem at work all the time when I am typing in phone numbers, it always drops the zero at the beginning!
My sales have been great!! :j I am now over half way there and only 9 days into the challenge!
Well done to everyone else and bring on more sales please amazon, to everyone on this board. My darling boy born December 20110 -

Hi Kat
Thanks for the info, problem is that the zero's aren't there to preserve in the first place. You have to cut and paste from word pad etc etc - I'll look it up if anyone needs it - but it's only if you download and want to upload. It will make more sense if you try and do it.
Congrats on the sales :T My new book sales have been really great 33 out of 48 sold so far since the start of the challenge have been new books. Trouble with that is that there is very little profit in new books - the big money is in used books.

Had a good week last week, sold something on Sunday night, then another on monday and another on tuesday - having to go to the post office each lunchtime wasn't so good but when the money goes in it's work it.
Then last night sold something else - an audio CD this time.
Don't have that much listed at the moment so really pleased that I've sold this much recently :j :jInitial Mortgage January 2024 - £160,000

Mortgage as of 1st February 2024 - £159,134.98

Hi All
Congratulations on your sales Katchambers & Yorkielass :j
I have sold 35 items since 1/11 and have jumped in with both feet and signed up for pro merchant
I bought two text books from a charity shop today - my first two buy-to-sell books
My plan is to list all of my books I could happily part with, even if they are selling for a penny, and start building up a small stock of books bought especially to sell. I don't have much room to store loads of books - partly why I'm selling them, I want my bedroom back! - so I might drop the pro merchant subs once my initial volume has gone down. I'll see how it goes. I might be totally rubbish at selecting books for sale
Thanks for the help on here for newbies like myself :T

Always check out the ISBN's before purchasing books so you don't end up with lots of 1p books. I usually make sure my OH is at home and call him from the charity shop/library so he can check prices before I buy them. I've got a good few titles this way. Last Saturday I bought an ex library book for 20p and sold it for £10.98 two days later.
Good Luck I hope you meet your Amazon challenge. My mantra is "Never pay full price!"0 -
I found a book in a charity shop yesterday but the isbn seems to be 0000000 089692. I've found the paperback version (same years etc using the library isbn) on Amazon but not the hardback version. So what do I do now.The curve that can set a lot of things straight is a smile0

I've now sold 19 items since we started the challenge.
My best sales so far, and with another 50 books added this week I'm still hopeful of more.

You could try listing on Amazon but there's a chance that your buyer won't read your note to say that it's hardback and have a whinge after the sale that it's not what he thought it was. Amazon would side with the buyer and refund his money (as you'd have to with any unhappy buyer) because strictly speaking you can't sell an item if it's not EXACTLY what they say it is.
Having said that they won't send the boys round to duff you up so maybe it's worth a go.
Or ebay it.0 -
