Forget it, me being a bit simple, I found it! It is the Caramelised onion houmous, http://www.cheap-family-recipes.org.uk/recipe-onionhoumous.html?opt=rlunch
  • Have tried a variation of the Mushroom Soup this morning

did it using 400g frozen peppers instead of the mushrooms, and I use 60g butter instead of the oil and cream as I don't usually have cream in, and I don't use the spice

It is utterly delectable, and def one I will do again

Well i think i am coming to the end of my storecupboard/freezer challenge. I am working most of this week so hopefully will last til then so not bad considering i havent bought much since the end of Dec. Having quiche tonight, chicken tomorrow and prob day after and meatloaft for a couple of nights then i could prob make a couple of pasta/rice dishes and that should be me at the weekend:j. Not found it too difficult at all and its been nice to get rid of some of the stuff lurking in the freezer though i now have heaps of packs of soup in there from all the batch cooking i have done.

I did a talk on cfr on Thurs eve at the village hall where I live, with Power point and everything.
It went really well, everyone was buzzing with it. I took Apple Curd, an Apple Curd with Cranberries, some Mushroom Soup and Pepper Soup, a Chicken, Onion and Sweetcorn Pie with jam tarts from the pastry trimmings, Brownies, Carrot Cake and Peanut & Pumpkin Seed Nut Butter

and demo'd the oil pastry (lots of questions about that, they weren't completely convinced that it would taste nice until they tried the pie that I had cooked in their oven while doing the Powerpoint bit), then I did mayo and flavoured separate dishes with tomato sauce, parsley and grainy mustard, then I demo'd Peanut and Brazil Nut Butter and cooked some Sweetcorn Fritters.

there were lots of mmmmm noises and all the food disappeared, so they must have liked it :)

I am using more of more of the recipes in my meal planning, and am finding different variations to try too. The Chicken and Onion pie for instance works really well adding in a few mushrooms and a third of a tin of corned beef, or chicken, onion and sweetcorn/mushrooms, or salmon and prawn

I've added in lots of different things to the Apple Curd - blackberries, apricots, raisins, damsons, cranberries - and they've all been completely delish

the latest favourite is the mushroom soup made with asda frozen mushrooms

also to report is a show to be made by Endemol called Super Scrimpers I think. They contacted WI HQ making enquiries about their theme, which is how I got to hear about it. They have expressed an interest in cfr as a concept and asked lots of questions about it. I am hoping that we will get some kind of exposure on the show, the publicity would be FAB for cfr

I've spoken to a producer, so am crossing fingers, I'll let you know any updates

Gosh Lesley, you have been busy! That all sounds awesome- if a bit scary!

Aren't Endemol the BigBrother people? Fingers crossed also.

:wave:Hello Kittikins (great name by the way) my current favourite cfr veggie meal at the moment is the veggie burgers-I have been living off them for about a week:o, although the bean curry comes a close second.
