    I freeze potato wedges :D
I cook them about 3/4 of the way through, cool and freeze on a tray. Then bag when they are frozen.
I dont really notice a taste difference :)
Never thought of that! I Should've made the wedges instead of faffing about with deep frying:D if I EVER have space in my freezer again, I will deffo do this!

Hi pretty quiet today. I made some cookies today as my storecupboard ran out of biccies (doesnt help ex eats them 3 at a time) and melted some chocolate over them.
Also did meatballs today with 1/2lb mince and some whoopsied sausage meat and had some of the pizza sauce spiced up with it. There was enough meat that i have made 2 individual meat loaves so not too bad methinks. Thinking about making some hummous for tonight so i can have it on sarnies (i work nights) but do have some things in fridge that could be utilised so will see.

I haven’t done very well this month with sticking to using the store cupboard & have ended up spending about the same as usual. :oThough that is literally half what I used to spend on groceries a couple of years ago!

DD hasn’t been very well. She was sent home from school last week, was v. poorly over the weekend & I had her home sick on Monday. While she was ill she hardly ate anything (though I did get some Complan into her). She weighed herself at my parents’ (I don’t have any bathroom scales) & was Yay! I have lost weight, if I skip some more meals I can lose more & I was NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

She is only 11, so we really shouldn’t be going there yet. Have had some serious discussions about healthy eating & I bought some things that weren’t in my plan, i.e. ‘low fat’ products, extra fresh fruit & salad etc. At least I know that DD has agreed to eat these, and I would rather she ate something than nothing.

You have my deepest sympathy, and everything crossable crossed that this is as far as this goes with your DD. My DD has just had her first appointment with CAMHS in connection with her eating habits, so I really don't want to be seeing anyone else going the same way !

We have just come back from shopping at Morrisons - not been there for ages, but had to go today as we have ran out of popping corn (DD's snack of choice atm) and it's miles cheaper there than in our local Asda - and ended up spending over £50 (when I was expecting to get away with about £20 for shopping this weekend) on offers and stocking up. A bit annoyed with myself, but hey, it will all save money in the long run..... The freezer will never get empty though, lol.

Thanks Allegra, it’s greatly appreciated. I know you have been through far worse with your DD & do hope that you'll both be OK.
  • Hope your DD's are ok Allegra and Julimk I had a similar thing when my DD was 9 and started a new school - some of the girls kept telling her she was fat, so she would miss meals, eat tiny ammounts and then make herself sick. Fortunately she had some councelling at school and it was sorted very quickly.

My thoughts are with you and your families

    Stressed xx
Hoping to stick to the challenge this year!!

julimk I used to behave like that at your DDs age - it was very much the influence of one friend who encouraged me and it was something that we did together (limit food, throw up etc). Fortunately for me it never had a major impact on my life and as soon as I got a little bit older I stopped doing it just as quickly as I started. I hope you manage to sort the situation out quickly.

Had a fab roast lamb dinner today - absolutely stuffed my face! Lots left so am thinking of making cawl tomorrow - one of my favourite winter foods, especially served with crusty bread!

WOW, QOS :) I wonder how I can adapt the technique to work with a chest freezer...... ;)

There is a method of storing breastmilk bags inside a giftbag that could work for a chest freezer, you'd need a separate bag for each meal or just make sure you didn't put the same thing in one bag too often then it would be a nice potluck :)
The video is a bit wordy so you can skip through to about 6mins and still see what she's done http://greenlitebites.com/BreastMilk/

 I have a tub of natural yog in the freezer that I got to make cheesecake but didn't get chance, if I defrost the whole thing will it be ok to use for it? I've never defrosted yog before :o
The very best is sometimes what nature gives us for free.

    I have a delicious dilemma

my neighbour had Sky set up and nominated me as the person who recommended her, so I received a completely unexpected £50 of M&S vouchers - bless her

plus I use an M&S credit card for everything I can so I get points which they convert to vouchers (I pay the bill off every month). I've just counted them and I've accumulated £48 of those, the first £5 of which I need to use by end of Feb, the rest by May 2011, August 2011, November 2011 or Feb next year

I was assuming I needed to get some kind of clothes, and have popped in twice, but didn't see anything I wanted to spend them on

then it occurred to me today that I could use them to buy food for February

sooo, do I look for their most frugaltastic basic stuff, knowing that M&S don't really do cheap food and end up paying a lot more than usual for eg carrots and onions but not having to use real money

or do I get some lovely, delicious treaty type food that I wouldn't normally buy

or do I maybe have some friends round and use some of it for party food, again, not stuff I would normally buy

    what would you do?

Ooh nice dilema Lesley. Personally i would buy nice treat stuff for myself cause i wouldnt feel i had got value for money with the basics so might as well buy some good stuff for nothing. Let us know what you decide on and make us all jealous lol xx
