and another thought on not taking frugalisation too far :o

Even though bread flour is cheaper than SR flour now, it does not make a good muffin :(
Apologies if this has already been discussed - I haven't read through but saw this on the first page I hadn't read. I always use wholemeal bread flour for everything including muffins but if a recipe is supposed to have SR flour then I add baking powder or bicarbonate of soda as a raising agent.

Thanks. Not as bad as it was although I'm still spending most of my time in bed.

I have no idea how I managed to mess up the easiest recipe possible, but I made inedible brownies tonight!

No idea where it went wrong, but it was liquidy mess after 25 min in the oven and further 10 only made more burning around the edges (still liquid). Upon cooling, it sent into a crystallised, inedible mess.

oh what a shame. Could you maybe mix with ice-cream?

my Skype has broken. Messages I have posted have had the whirly symbol since Saturday, and I can't see any messages at all from other people - I feel cut off!

what have other people done when this happened?

A similar thing happened to me a while ago, only my brownies were quite solid and were accompanied with an acrid whiff of burning. Was scratching my head trying to work out what I'd done wrong- until I saw a bowl of beaten eggs still on the counter:o

Kitties nut roast for tea tonight (again!)

but I did eggs! Well, I used egg substitute, but I've baked with it loads of times and never had this problem. Maybe it's gone off, LOL.

Delete all the ones that have the whirly thing next to them, then sign out of everything and start all over again. It normally works - eventually....
