Hey all - sorry, I AM still alive! I started a new job last week (after almost 1 year off!!) so life has been a bit hectic. Just popped on as settling in at work this morning, but I have to log off now and behave. ;) Hope to get back in the swing of things soon!!

    Hi aless

Lovely to see you. Hope all is going well with the new job and hope to see you back when real life is less hectic. :)

    xx

  • Made my first batch of cfr marmalade today. It's tangy and tasty. I'm not a big toast eater, so most of it will be used for muffins and in cake and am going to try to work out how to use it in carrot cake instead of fresh orange. Because of the way I'm going to use it, i have frozen most of it in ice cube trays, so I can grab and defrost a little bit when I need it.

Also making apple butter, basically apple sauce reduced with cinnamon and allspice and a bit of sugar.

Can you tell I found a big pile of fruit that needed using up :-).

They sound great QOS! I have a big bag of rhubarb in the freezer that needs using up. Let us know how the marmalade in the carrot cake works out :)

  • Hi, I've subscribed (again) so that I can try and keep up with you. I have a lot of back reading to do to catch up. The christmas planner looks smashing.

Hi Howlin nice to see you back hope you can try some of the recipes and give your feedback.
Got my induction for new job tonight so having a dish of pasta, with some chicken and bacon and served with garlic bread (maybe not best choice for interview but hey) so a quick easy meal.

Howlin', great to see you back

the christmas recipes are very nomnomnom

my daughter made the brownies using sunflower oil the other day, rather than the rapeseed oil in the planner, and I thought the resulting brownies had a rather unpleasant undertaste of oil. Could be the oil she used was a bit old, so may have been that

when I have made them with rapeseed oil, they have been very lovely indeed

After checking the old thread again for posts I suddenly realised there was probably a new thread! I am a bit slow.

I will have a read but if there is anything in particular that still needs testing please let me know. I did test the Christmas planner when it was in it's infancy. It was scrummy then so I know it will be a treat to test.

I wondered why you'd gone so quiet on the CFR front, Susan. :D

I'm toying with the idea of having CFR for our actual Crimbo meal, since in all likelihood we will be having turkey for a belated Thanksgiving this weekend...also, it will be a bit manic in our household, with a 1st birthday happening as well :D:D. I might swap one or two of the side dishes for our favorites, but the pork was sooooo nommy I'm quite happy to have that instead of the usual!!
