Afternoon lovlies,
I have 300gh-ish of rabbit meat, I'm thinking rabbit stew bulked out a bit with some chicken thighs. Anyone know what herbs/spices etc would go best with the bunny?
I'm making pate later with chicken livers *scared*the last lot of chicken livers ended up in mum&dad's dog because I forgot to but them in the freezer

My nan makes rabbit stew - she uses streaky bacon, parsley, thyme, garlic and red wine
Have you ever tasted bunny burgers? They are delicious if you can be bothered mincing the meat.:happylove DD July 2011:happyloveAug 13 [STRIKE]£4235.19[/STRIKE] £2550.00 :cool:0 -
Sami, chicken livers are also yum fried with a bit of tarragon and something creamy eg cream or mascarpone or creme fraiche, even a bit of crema cheese melted through might be nice. Fry them til they're just pink in the middle.Eat food, not edible food-like items. Mostly plants.0

Pate made. I'm not keen, OH has had some on toast and says its ok but we both think its too liver'y lol.
No idea how to fix that, more onion maybe? I didn't weigh it just used one medium onion and 380g chicken livers. Can you put bacon in pate?
Thanks for the bunny accompaniments, I've only ever had rabbit in mum's stew but my mum's cooking leaves a lot to be desired :O0 -
Well OH is off walking in Wales this weekend so I thought I'd make some butternut squash risotto (he isn't super keen) as had some chicory from plot and goats cheese and walnuts left over from other recipes. I thought it would be semi frugal.
I tend to put the chicory in a bag in the fridge and remove and clean the outside leaves as I need them. Well I got into the heart of the chicory and there was an enormous, fat, grey caterpillar dead in the middle of it- yuck!
This is the bit I am ashamed of, chucked the chicory AND the caterpillar in the compost bin.:o
MUST try harder!0 -

I would have done the same :rotfl: I was eating grapes out of the bag once and a spider crawled out - threw the whole thing against the wall, put a lunchbox over the top held down with a tin of beans until OH came home to dispose of it!:o:happylove DD July 2011:happyloveAug 13 [STRIKE]£4235.19[/STRIKE] £2550.00 :cool:0 -

Gosh that made me laugh, I love the idea that without the tin of beans the spider would have been able to bench press the lunchbox and scuttle off- probably with one of your grapes!
Visiting my Gran today- will take her anything BUT grapes, for some reason I am right off them!0 -
Made my first batch of cfr marmalade today. It's tangy and tasty. I'm not a big toast eater, so most of it will be used for muffins and in cake and am going to try to work out how to use it in carrot cake instead of fresh orange. Because of the way I'm going to use it, i have frozen most of it in ice cube trays, so I can grab and defrost a little bit when I need it.
Also making apple butter, basically apple sauce reduced with cinnamon and allspice and a bit of sugar.
Can you tell I found a big pile of fruit that needed using up :-).Eat food, not edible food-like items. Mostly plants.0 -
