To stick up for the sales assistants, also please remember...
When a store is caught out, 9 times out of 10 the company will get away with selling restricted items to minors. Why? Because they can produce sufficient regular training records to prove the the assistant had training not to sell the restricted goods to a minor. The fine and potential custodial sentence then falls onto the person that sold the goods rather than the company.0 -

But you will never be fined or jailed for selling non-alcoholic beer or a cooking sauce to a 38 year-old.0 -
Why, when there are plenty of intelligent people seeking work, do these cretins get the Jobs?
Perhaps the 'HR' person (what happened to 'Personnel Manager' or 'Staff' Manager?), is just as stupid. Or is it that stores prefer thick people because it's easier to exploit them?"Never underestimate the mindless force of a government bureaucracyseeking to expand its power, dominion and budget"Jay Stanley, American Civil Liberties Union.0 -

...but probably the wine gums0 -
I remember a thread on here about getting IDed for a jar of red wine cooking sauce. It was a ridiculous scenario.

I resent having to buy a passport and carry it on me, at the age of 25, just to be able to buy cleaning stuff (ie Flash spray), let alone the occasional bottle of wine. It's absolutley ridiculous and about to cost me £77.50!!0

If you don't travel a driving licence is cheaper.
Related to the rest of the post, my mother got ID'd at 46 and I had to go in and buy alcohol for her while she sulked in the car:rotfl:War does not determine who is right - only who is left.0 -
I can't get a drivers' license due to certain disabilities, so a passport is my only choice.0

Get one of the PASS cards. Much cheaper than a passport or driving licence and any age can get one. I don't think they expire either.
