I finally got round to sending them an e -mail and all i got was my 3.00 delivery charge refunded.
First time i have used amazon and probably the last.
I have no e-mails from them regarding the boxset either.0 -

That sounds verbatim like part of the emails I was sent (see above) - its a cut'n'paste job and its bollards - they haven't even looked.Wins so far this year: It's been a quiet year so far0 -
I had a bit of a winge via email, more so about the fact that they cancelled my order without notifying me (I didn't get the email either) and then didn't return my calls either, than the fact that I didn't get the box set (win some - lose some) and this is the reply I received :
My name is {name} and I am in Amazon.co.uk's Executive
Customer Relations Group. One of my group's mandates is to address
the most acute customer account and order problems, and in this
capacity, your inquiry has been brought to my attention.
I apologise for the delay in responding to your e-mail message.
In relation to the cancellation of your order for 10 Classic Disney
Movies ASIN : B000B7VZII, please accept our apologies for any
misunderstanding and allow me to clarify our position on this matter.
We originally had this item priced at 17.97 GBP in stock, and we
fulfilled orders at this price until we ran out of stock. The low
price drove a huge demand for the item, which unfortunately our
supplier was unable to fulfill. As a result, we had to cancel orders
for this item, as we had no indication from our supplier, of when or
if they would be able to supply the item again. This DVD Box Set is
a limited edition item.
We then acquired some more of this item from our suppliers, at a
higher price, and we fulfilled orders at the price of 90.99 GBP
until we ran out of stock. Unfortunately, at present we do not have
this item in stock.
We do genuinely understand the disappointment due to our supply
problems with this item and apologise again for the inconvenience
you have experienced. We did, however, send an email to all our
affected customers, explaining the situation and issued a £5 gift
certificate as a gesture of goodwill.
I would ask if you could check your junk or spam mail as the email
was sent, however, I am now adding a £5 gift certificate to your
account. This will be automatically deducted when you place an order
supplied by Amazon.co.uk.
We are unable to offer you any further compensation in relation to
this matter.
Please know that your business is very important to us. We hope that
you will allow us another opportunity to prove the quality of our
service to you in the future.
I think thats fair enough really.0 -
Fair?? Did anyone on here receive that "Cancelling email"? Spoke to Consumer Direct - Amazon is in the wrong on this one - if they part shipped your order, they have accepted your order and it forms a binding contract. They are in breach of contract to cancel part of it. And if you really want to push it - they have to supply that item at the cheaper price or you are entitled to get it anywhere else and you can go after them for the difference.0

How can they supply something that they can't get hold of?
Is it worth so much stress for something you aren't going to get no matter how much you stamp your feet and moan about it?
Get over it and let it go.Never argue with an idiot. He will bring you down to his level and beat you with experience.

I moved on from this ages ago - people need to accept that sometimes you get stuff and sometimes you don't. Every time you do it's a bonus!
Meanwhile I have had great deals on Dr Who, Thunderbirds, Captain Scarlet etc.
Time to close this thread I think. You don't get medals for sitting in the trenches.0 -

I'd agree that there's no point dwelling on "if onlies" - personally I'd accepted that the order wasn't going to be fulfilled and that I'd be lucky to see an "oops" from Amazon.
Judging from the reponse sent to smevs Amazon seem to believe (or want their customers to) that once thay had realised they had a problem their communications systems functioned in a correct and adequate manner and that in order to keep people sweet everyone affected was compensated in some fashion - we all know very well that the only people who were communicated with were those that chased Amazon up (with an identikit reponse) and that they only compensated some of these people - they seem to be claiming otherwise and that irritates me a bit.Wins so far this year: It's been a quiet year so far0 -
