No! There were lots of really good options so I certainly hope the OP acted on one of them.MSE aim: more thanks than posts :j0 -
I doubt it0

Have you tried gumtree? We just got a reasonable car from there for only #200 and although it's not the best it's just a runaround until after Christmas?
Have you looked on route planner to double check that there is no way for your partner to get there?0 -
This is a classic thread of an OP asking for help and not being prepared to listen to a word said.
Unbelievable!
Many people have wasted their time helping and giving advice - don't waste anymore, it's not appreciated by OP.
Any suggestion will be met with an excuse.0 -
Advertise at the Job Centre for a part time driver for somebody to take him to/from work - you could pay a grateful unemployed person the minimum wage per hour - and it would still be less than a taxi would cost -BUT bear in mind that if you dont sort this problem out & adhere to some of this well-meaning advice that's been offered here, then it will be your husband that's at the Job Centre, and believe me, you will have a LOT LESS to live on than you have now!0

Don't forget to claim back the unused months on the car tax on your old car.0

And another... 'You can't help those who won't help themselves'.
OP - quite frankly it is the responsibility of you and your husband to resolve the problem of how he gets to work. It's all very well and good shooting everyone's ideas down in flames, but unless you've got a better plan (in which case, why did you come on here looking for advice?), you're pretty much screwed.
Your options are to either make the best of the suggestions in this thread, or, do nothing and risk your husband losing his job for poor attendance.
Only you can decide which of those two options is the least expensive and/or inconvenient.0 -

that is a really good idea, something that hadnt even crossed my mind!! I know when I was job hunting, I would have been made up with ANY work even if it was only an hour or two a day!!! i think ill remember this for future reference aS we only have this car for 2 months, s this will be a good idea once we ghave to give it back if we have nothing else sorted!0 -

This won't work unfortunately. The "driver" will have to have special insurance - normal car insurance does not cover you driving for "hire or reward" - which basically means should there be an accident, there'll be no insurance payout, driver could have action taken against him by the courts for no valid insurance and if you or your OH were injured, there's be no compensation for you - unless you sue the driver, who's not going to have any money anyway!
Also you would in effect have to become an employer with all that entails.
This is not a simple nor safe solution.0 -
Ok thanks for the info!!! I wont be doing that then lol!!!
luckily for the time been we are ok, through til early Januray we have insurance on my MIL car for use to and from work only, and dependant on my mum getting her new car early in the new year, we'll be ok from then on as we inherit the old one!!
