this is v v true. i am the only student i know who is willing to do this. everyone i know just cant be bothered to go through the whole list esp when they are doing a shop worth around £150 + for every r&R that happens there must be a fair few hundred who dont check the reciept/assume the cheaper price is already on the reciept/simply cant remember the special offer price which made them pick up the item.

I have just had experience of something I posted about yesterday.
Had an R&R two weeks ago, not on an out-of-date sel - just a normal white sel but charged nearly 10% extra.
I went in the store last week sel was now showing correct higher price.
I went in today and white sel back in place showing same price as it did 2 weeks ago - and went thru the till at exactly the same HIGHER price that it did then - got another R&R.
No dates, no special offers, no yellow sel. Just Tesco putting a price on display they have no intention of honouring - unless you spot it

Whatever the arguement about extra profit or turnover etc, the bottom line is they are advertising a price, but charging you more.

In a way WE, the consumer are as much to blame, we have fallen for the 'convenience' and 'quickness' trap of ALL supermarkets.
We are in such a rush to get the mundane boring job of filling our cupboards done asap. We do not get our meat from the butcher, books from Smiths, veg from the local market, cds from Virgin. If we did shop this way, we would probably be able to keep an eye on what we were being charged, rather than mistakes being hidden by the sheer volume in the trolley. We like the convenience of being able to do everything at once - buy stamps, shop for christmas, get a new outfit - the lot.
Even being a keen R&Rer, I VERY RARELY write down prices of what I buy. I probably miss as many overcharges as R&Rs I claim - because my mind is on other things. I want to get my shopping done and me onto the next thing in my hectic life.

My new resolve is to write a list of the prices and check it against my receipt - for ALL items and in ALL stores. I used to think this was only the veteran shoppers who did this, those who had nothing better to do with their time than write all the items and prices. Now I think they are just the very wise ones :T

Now, has anybody seen any notepads and pens I can get on R&R ;)

so what was the misprice ???

no wonder this thread gets filled up so quickly, is there really any need to quote such a massive post?
just one or two lines would have been plenty.
This is more annoying than USING CAPS!!!

When I was living in halls we did £100+ shops once a month or so but that would be between about 20 of us and would be an online delivery of heavy stuff we couldn't be bothered to carry... so mostly drinks :D
    Titch :)

Since I started R&Ring I only get 10-20 items at a time (so I can go shopping more often ;) ) but it makes it much easier to remember prices. I don't think I'll ever do a big weekly shop again

Nothing to get excited about - chewing gum !!
I posted about it on the ethics poll thing 2 weeks ago. An item I regularly buy, but now I keep my eye out for it in THIS particular store.

Ok Tesco do R&R, but ASDA do the £2 gift card - which I have NEVER ever got yet, so that is my secret target, to get one off cs, rather than to meekly accept their "Oh we don't do that..." excuse.

Point is, although like many on here I go out LOOKING for R&R, and the higher value the better.......Often I find nothing from my R&R shopping list......but I have probably missed loads of the normal stuff I have put in during my 'normal' shopping.

Equally when I think about how much time I 'waste' on non-productive shopping trips, and returning items which went thru at the sel price.......I cannot keep deluding myself that I haven't got time to spare to write prices down.
A quick trip to get milk and bread, and check out any possible R&Rs ends up being 45min shop. So I vow from now on to write down the prices as I put things in the trolley - honest :A
