:)You should make sure when your next Council Register is due to be filled in, that you opt for the private register not the public one. If I recall correctly, both options are listed on the form and if you do not select the private option it defaults to the public one.

Companies can use the information on the public register for junk mailings through the post and you would then need to register with the mailing preference service to stop it.

In the meantime, I trust that the website will have the decency to remove data when requested, but it would be better if they were unable to access it in the first place from public records.

I opted for private option, and yet all my details and my family's are still showing on 192.com and google. I wrote to 192.com ages ago, both electronically and by post, yet still all the details appear.
  • Can we not take these people to court for lack of privacy?!
    Debt free
    2010 £11000/£9000
    2011 £509 so far
  • All the details are also on 123 people, and there doesn't seem to be a way to ask for them to be removed.
On the 123 website they have a poll posted up asking people to vote if they feel the internet is a threat to their privacy and over 90 per cent voted yes.

just checked further, it even has my Daughter's age, her date of birth, and where her birth was registered and parents details!

I can't access the full details as I don't want to pay for the credits, but I assume they are correct.

    outrageous!
