Yip, that is quite widely, easily available...guess they don't clamp down on that type of illegal file sharing like they do with MP3's, Films and Games...personal data doesn't lose them money does it, it just loses us it when fraudsters get hold of data they can use...
Just found that UKINFO disc (current) myself, easy to download peer-to-peer.0 -
i emailed the telephone preference service, cc 192.com, i asked the TPS to investigate this unwanted listing of my details, about an hour after i sent the email, i had an email from 192.com saying they only had limited details for me,not the point 192, i dont want you to have any details fullstop!!.
i have now emailed the ombudsman (cc 192.co)requesting that they investigate this unwanted entry & that with 192.com assistance,we had recieved scammer phone calls & phone calls from companies that we have no wish to have any dealings with.
lets see what these ignorant 192 people do now,.....to be honest, i am not holding my breath
update:-
I have just had a snotty email from 192,they are removing all of details from their site, seems contacting the ombudsman & cc 192 into that email works !!!.0 -

Their emails are always very short and rude as well. Do you know if the phone numbers are included in the electoral roll records? The only reason I ask because I'm ex directory and registered with TPS, I cant seem to find my number on 192.com so I guess its not on there?
It took me 3 requests to get them to remove my electoral roll records and I had to send off 2 lots of forms because they claimed that they did not receive the first one I sent them.
In my opinion this company should be closed done.0 -
we had a phone call from a company,i asked them where they got our details & they confirmed that they got them from 192
we started to keep a log of the amount of phone calls we had from companies with a section on that log where the company confirmed they used 192, so did all the other companies.
the scammers were different, they wouldnt confirm anything, not surprising really.with those i did something that i would never normally do, i gave them all sorts of,well shall we say offensive comments, also told them i had a tracer on my phone which had been put on at my request by the telephone provider so all numbers including withheld could be traced by them & passed to the police & trading standards & i would be contacting BBC watchdog, the scammer calls,or nearly all of them stopped.
may seem a bit OTT, but its working0 -
:)You should make sure when your next Council Register is due to be filled in, that you opt for the private register not the public one. If I recall correctly, both options are listed on the form and if you do not select the private option it defaults to the public one.
Companies can use the information on the public register for junk mailings through the post and you would then need to register with the mailing preference service to stop it.
In the meantime, I trust that the website will have the decency to remove data when requested, but it would be better if they were unable to access it in the first place from public records.0 -
Hi
Does anyone know how I can remove previous owners details from 192.com which use to live at my property?
Thanks0 -
I am getting fed up with this http://www.192.com/ website.
If you type your name in google, it doesn't only display your details but your family too.
I don't think websites like this should be legal.
What si thr way of opting out of having your details displayed on them? Is opting out of the electoral role the only way it won't be displayed there in the first place?Debt free
2010 £11000/£9000
2011 £509 so far0
